I bought this 1M used, driven only about 7000 km. The first owner had painted the roof and the mirrors gloss black, not wrapped. When I saw the pictures I thought that it looks strange why he hasn't painted the lists also, but like the 270m wheels it looks really good in reality and you won't even notice it. And it creates a visual influence that the roof looks narrower and the hips even wider. I recommend to use gloss.
My buddy had a X6 wrapped matte black and the roof was 3M carbon wrap, it was a good mixture. Another friend has a 330 xda wagon wrapped matte white and his roof is also 3M carbon, and looks great. So maybe matte + matte and gloss + gloss is the best choice. I thought of studded tires also like you, but I'm really happy with these tires. My X5 has also Conti SUV contact tires without studs and it works great, even in Lapland. Ice can be a little problem, but in here it's usually just lots of snow |

Love my winter tires. Just a little to wide in the back if I should complain on something. Other than that? Perfect with the original rims! Really don't like the other options especially not the 270M. Really happy I did go with spikes. Feels way more secure. Had a lot of snowy and icy roads and the weather seems to just get worse now in the end of January. Colder and more snow over here.

Sorry for interrupting thread - but in reply to query earlier in this thread - I have now got stock 1M BMW winter wheel / tyre combo (18" 270m wheels and 235 Michelin Alpin tyres) and have 20mm spacers on the back - looks so much better - virtually indistinguishable from standard set up from behind and NO RUBBING.

Hi there
I'm searching winter tires for my 1m. What do you think of the 18" (or 17"?) BBS CH-R in black? Has someone any pics of BBS Wheels on a 1M? Best regards, Flavush |

Thank you for the links. My Mechanic has found some original BMW 17" winter wheels. Could someone tell me if it is possible to mount it on a 1M? Or are the Brakes too big for 17 inch? Best regards Flavush |

Below is the tire pressure schedule for the 1M (picture courtesy of Kiyo).
I try with 2.4 bar (kPa) all round for my winter set-up. What tire pressure do you prefer for your winter set-up (compared to your summer set-up) ?

I just picked these up last week from a local M3Post member and friend. 18" M3 219M wheels.
Joining Drillslinger, Cossac, burnsniper, analogue and others with this setup. The front tires have plenty of tread left. The rear tires need to be replaced. I was waiting for an APEX ARC-8 group buy and was planning on going with a square setup, but I picked up this set for a good price and it will do just fine. Now I just need to decide what to do with my Blizzaks for the OEM wheels I used for only a few months last winter. I'll probably post a FS thread soon. |

Front: 235/35R-19 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 XL
Rear: 255/35R-19 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-60 XL I ordered them from Tire Rack on 12/9/2011. I have the exact mileage on/off, but I'll need to look at my tire shop receipts. PM me if interested. I'll post a FS thread in the next week or so, once I'm 100% sure I'm going to sell them. I haven't thought about price yet. Here's a link to the tires on Tire Rack: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes |

Just read in a Belgian car magazine that "the past few months" Michelin has released a new version of "Michelin Pilot Alpin" winter tyres (featuring three new technologies: Maxi-Edge, Stabiligrip and a new Helio Compound 3G rubber mix). Homologated by Porsche as standard (winter) tyre for the 911.
Are those the same tires as the ones commented before in this thread (winter 2011-2012) or are those an upgraded version ? Michelin website only indicates 18" winter tires for the 1M: - Michelin Pilot Alpin 235/40 R18 95 V - Michelin Pilot Alpin 235/40 R18 95 W These seem not to be available in the size for the stock 19" 1M wheels (at least not for the rear wheels) (pro memoria: front: 245/35/19 | rear: 265/35/19).

You'd be nuts to run 19" / 35-series winter tires.
