Changed out all the coils (Delphi) and plugs (NGK) to (hopefully) correct my intermittent and random engine stumbling.
So far, so good.

Bought AliExpress headers. For $350 shipped with all the hardware, I’m willing to gamble.

Got my 135i/E90 master cylinder installed and DSC bled. Take up is back to normal and maybe slightly better. I will leave SPBR coded to the car. Feels great.

When I was shopping around for either deleting the muffler or going for CSS exhaust, one muffler shop guy asked if I powered it up with a tune. I told him I didnt want to upgrade the clutch so no. He nodded in full agreement and then proceeded to tell me about his setup needing a southbend stage III clutch! Crazy that the GTI and Golf R use the same clutch. MK7 GTI and our 1ers are fun platforms!!

This morning I replaced the trunk lid switch/handle in the trunk on my wife's '08 128i. She had been putting up with the sticky-handle syndrome for a while. I should have done it when I replaced the third-brake-light several months ago but just forgot.
It's so easy I urge anyone getting that sticky black goo on your hands to just replace it. I work at a BMW dealership and didn't even bother to order the OE part but went instead with the 5-star rated FEXON from Amazon for around $25, shipped. It was cheaper, appears to be exactly the same part, even down to the cast-in BMW part number. I mean this did not appear to be a clone, but an OEM part simply without the BMW emblem. Installation is as easy as popping the old one out from the top edge with a plastic trim tool, and snapping the new one in. It took me longer to remove all the grime from a dozen years of being a daily driver than it did to install the part. But after nearly 50-years of BMW ownership I know they never seem to learn from the rust-prone areas of previous generations and all of that starts with a collection of dirt. I took out the license plate lights to clean around them, too, and now I feel sooo much better! Hmm, do you suppose a trunk spoiler would prevent the deposit of dirt in the license-light area? Might be justification for an upgrade. Last edited by BMWCCA1; 09-01-2020 at 03:25 PM.. |

Got everything dialed in with alignment and tune. New RB turbos, full bolt ons from ARM, axle back, and M3 control arms. Car feels great. Tried to keep it as clean looking as possible.

Finally installed CP/BOV. I've been flirting with stock CP disaster running MHD 1+, now I can finally load up 2+.
Also tried my hand at coding: digital speedo without correction, key fob eject and auto door unlock with start/stop button. Felt like a boss afterwards! Then I realized you need to have auto door lock enabled for auto unlock to work. Searched on how to code that... wow, a whole other subset of BC menus?! I've been manually locking my doors for months! From boss to n00b in a matter of minutes! BC settings updated: auto door lock triggered by motion, unlock all doors with fob instead of just driver side, DRL off, and 3 blinks with half turn signal press instead of just 1! Mind blown! Always something new to learn about this platform! |

IMG_20170126_121115833_TOP by kevinr1916, on Flickr That was before the new mirrors - they are white now. I hated the black mirrors. I would have preferred a 3dr too - my back seat is mostly decorative being a single middle-aged duffer.

A stupid rodent made a nest under my intake manifold and chewed up the wires to my oil temperature sensor a while back, and I’m just getting around to fixing it. The little bastard also chewed up most of the foam in my engine compartment. What a pain in the ass - the rear subframe bushings were a snap compared to this. I guess I'll knock out my spark plugs a few thousand miles early while I'm at it...
Pics provided for your enjoyment… One question for you smart guys and gals though - is that yellow plug (with the red circle around it) supposed to be pulled out like that? It seems like it should be pushed in, but I can’t get it to budge. Thanks! |
