Going up to 225 fronts with Re050a runflats

I see that when people go to PSS they often upsize the fronts to 225. Has anyone done this with the stock runflats? I'm guessing they might fare a little better with the poor road conditions?

FYI, While I'd like to go to conventional tires, having runflats makes the car a bit safer so that's why I'm asking.

I don't think I have seen anyone do this. I know when I went to regular tires(Michelin PS3's in 225/255's) the thing I noticed right away was how much better the car tracked at high speeds. Before when I would go over a bump or whoop-to-dee at say 200 kph... you could feel the toe change a bit. With the 225/255's you didn't feel that. Maybe it was just my alignment - IDK. I know that only my LF suspension was slightly out when I ad the new tires and alignment done.

Thanks for the insite Dack. Doesn't sound like there is a downside. I've seen pictures of your car and think the upsize looks appropriate too.

Yep, thanks. I think the Michelin tires really are an amazing tire. They drive just as good new(quite with lots of grip dry or wet) or when they are almost bald. In fact, I was astonished how good the tires rode - while only having a 1mm or two of thread left.

I recently went with Michelin PS4 tires in 225/255's... they are also very good. The one thing I noticed right away was how much smoother the PS4's rode compared to my old PS3's.

Here are my thoughts on the Michelin tires & some photos...

My new Michelin PS3’s 225’s & 255’s…
