Can you please clarify what take up means? I think I know but not sure haha.

The sport brakes/ m3/ etc all have faster take up portions in the MC. moves the pistons much quicker to the surface of the rotor.....but they all have the same eventual MC diameter.... So they feel faster to brake and have a little less pedal travel than a base MC.

In that case, I would definitely go with another 135i master cylinder. I like the amount of travel I have in the pedal when using the brakes.

I'm really struggling with wheels now to fit my f8x brakes, my local wheel company (Koya) is telling me.none of their wheels will clear above +22 offset on the front and +27 rear
But it'll cost me literally twice as much to get a set of EC7, and take several months 😭 |

I'm also getting a TON of scraping no matter what I do from the rear rotors, I had to trim a ton off the park brake assembly backing plate as it was straight up touching the rotor, then that was fine.. but then I put the shoes on and *something* is scraping even with the shoes at minimum extension?
Me too 😭 I've found a few used sets but arranging someone to find a reasonable freight quote is another story |

First I've heard of the problem. Wonder what's going on.

I know it's probably a long shot but has anyone test fit the ARC-8R's to confirm barrel clearance? I like the way the ARC's look on my car much better than the VS's and I'd be willing to try and source them if I knew they'd fit and I wouldn't have to shave my calipers down now that they've been powder coated.

New ARC-8 styles are in the works and I can check clearances on those once we're further along in the process. -Tom

If you get pads that were specifically designed for the F8x platform (not F3x pads that also include F8x fitment), the pad weights clear the Apex ARC-8 18x8.5et45 as f8x-only pads have smaller weights. I used EBC Red DP32360c (f8x-only p/n) instead of EBC Red DP32130c (F3x p/n but says fits F8x on most websites). The pads still don't completely sweep the rotor surface (inner ~5mm not covered) but that seems to be the case for all aftermarket pads. I got a VAC hub extender so that I can ensure the wheel was centered with the 8mm spacer so I know for sure that the wheel is clearing. For the shaving, it's very minimal. There's a scribe line on the outer half of the caliper that needs slight rounding off at the corner. The inner half scribe line was already clearing the barrel. I didn't take a picture yet but I'll edit and attach when I get the chance. |
