To be honest the 'just search' comments are generally getting a bit old on this forum. I suppose we could just replace the discussion forum with a link to Google Search. |

Well I try to be a little more helpful than post SEARCH in all caps or something of course if you do search... nothing wrong with bumping an older thread and adding to it right? The 9.5s will fit a wider selection of tires probably.. and won't stick out as much.... the 10s do extend outside the wheel wells in the front, and of course put more rubber to the road but the tire may rub depending on what tire is fit to them.. i went with a staggered setup for the track, i didn't want to have any of them stick out.
but I do love them, I think they are by far the best track wheels out there. they are functional and actually look good on the car. jeff |

I like the idea of being able to rotate front to back with the squaller setup as well.

Any help? tx

There is an Apex group buy going on but they only have 18x9.5 ET+35 available for a square setup. Not sure which would be a better fit the +22 or +35. Thanks Amit

We were the first to fit these wheels to the 1M. With +35 you will need a 3 or 5mm spacer depend on tires used. +22 you are good with just about any tire under 275. Although 265 really fits better and rubs much less, again, depend on the tires you run. |

I don't mind running spacers so which would be the preferable offset/tire size in your opinion. My suspension is currently stock but I'm sure I'm going to hopefully go with the ohlins setup that's currently being developed.mIll most definitely buy from u come spring since u have been so helpful on the forums. Cheers Amit

You can run either 18x10" ET25 or 18x9.5" ET22 as a square setup. The preferred fitment would be 18x10" with 275/35/18's all around, but it can be tight up front depending on the tire that is used. Camber plates are usually needed to get the 10's to fit cleanly, although we've had no reported issues from customers who purchased the 10's, and I don't believe they all have them. We always recommend camber plates with any of these setups as the wider tires cannot be taken advantage of if there is no negative camber up front, and they provide extra fender clearance which can avoid costly damage if there were fender contact on a stock setup. If you don't want to deal with any camber plates, and you want a rub free setup then you could opt to run the 18x9.5" et22 wheels with 275/35/18's all around. That is only slightly more conservative, but is a clean fit without any other modifications. |

Thanks MrRoboto
18x9.5 ET+22 for me. I'm not planning on upgrading suspension this season as I'd like to have a go with the stock setup. Depending on how the car feels I'll opt for either the ohlins setup in development or just some dampers as Advevo did. The streets in Montreal are pitiful and I've learned my lessons of what not to do with my last Mini. I've also read u can dial in a couple of degrees of camber with the regular top mounts. Btw where are u in Canada? Ill be running Tremblant, Mosport, Calabogie, & Shannonville this summer. If u are east we should def link up. Amit

18x10 will most likely need camber plates when used with 275's. Again, tire brand will determine the amount of clearance you need. Quote:
We are using this same tire for autox and track days, but we also have a set of R6's mounted on Apex wheels when we want to click off some lighting fast laps. |

See my notes on the RS3s and a few other tires in another thread... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=602568 After trying those with my 10s.... I'm not too optimistic that the 275/35/18 RS3 will work... even with the 9.5s... if it does it will be VERY close to rubbing the front of the inner wheelhouse as you turn the wheel.. This is simply a case of the tire construction being so tall that you really will have to have camber plates in my opinion. With my 10" wheels there was rubbing WAY before getting to full steering lock. The 285/30/18 Hoosier actually fit far better... and would certainly be an option on 9.5" wheels for sure.... and might even fit on some cars with 10s.. The Hankook RS3 definitely is the hot street tire out there... so if you want to go with it then 265s on a 9.5 or 10" wheel should work.. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 01-19-2012 at 02:04 AM.. |

Hoosiers have much rounded shoulders and are smaller in diameter in general than the RS3's. If you are driving your car to the track, the RS3 is the way to go. |
