Engine Malfunction!

Hello,

Driving home from work today, my iDrive shows that there's an engine malfunction and that my car would be operating at reduced power. Also, it says to go to nearest BMW dealer.

On my dash instrument cluster, a yellow (not red) engine sign popped up.

Anybody have an idea as to what this could mean and if I should drive or tow it to my dealer?

My car is a 2012 BMW 135i N55 with 100,000kms (60,000 miles).

You need to read the codes. Could be a sensor or a rod hanging out the side of your engine for all we know.

If that is the case, is it dangerous for me to drive my car to dealer? They're about 30kms away from where I live. Or should I have it towed?

Couldn't tell you. Since I have no idea what is broken.

Inspect charge pipe and see if it is cracked....you may be able to hear it leak under the hood with someone running the car.

It is one of the easiest things to DIy a nice aluminum one...Can be fiddly though..

Dealer will put the same old crack prone one on there.
