What's are the widest tires (front and back)that can fit on stock wheels?
Just got an 1M (been lusting after one since they first came out) and I am looking to upgrade the tires (OE spec PS2) to something wider and grippier.
What's are the widest tires (front and back) that can fit on stock wheels without rubbing? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

You could go for Michelin PSS wich is the usual upgrade, grips and last longer.
I'm now on Advan AD08-R in 255 and 275 on stock rims, goes pretty well except the rubbing on full lock turning left. Watch out, AD08R is a WIDE tire, meaning the 245 is already like the PSS 255...

I just saw that the new Bridgestone RE-71R (treadwear 200, yeah right, for autocross) is available in 255/35/19 and 275/35/19. That may just be my tire for next year. I have the updated front fender liners, so hoping they will not rub.
I will return and report . . . in a year! |

255 front and 275 rear are good upgrades over stock. You can't go wrong on the street with PSS tires.

That is too bad, planning to do a little of each. I'm currently on RE11's which handled the track pretty well, grip was consistent through the sessions. They don't really come up to temp at autocross, and their tread wear rating makes them a "race" tire with this years rules.

And don't wait a year to report. You should notice the minute you make a tight turn.

My RE-11's are probably going to last me this whole summer, thus the year.

Hi. If you want to go wider on stock wheels and have no rubbing issue, you have to change your front fender liners, then 255 front - 275 rear will fit easily.
I have Michelin Cup 2 255-275.

I am now using the RE71r's 255/35 front and 275/35 rear. I had two long 30+ minute track sessions last Sunday (temps were 50-55 degrees in the afternoon) with no overheating issues. We'll see how they hold up as we get into summer.

They are easily the stickiest 200tw tire I have used but I have gotten 2x as many days out of the other usual suspects in 200tw rating (RS3, Direzza Z2). RE-71 is as sticky as an R comp and wears like one too, in my experience at least. |

Hard to tell from 1 track day. I don't have a tread depth guage. I do 3-4 track days and 3-4 autocrosses per season, plus about 8000 miles. I will be happy if they last 1 season.

why would that matter? if anything a lowered car should have less outer edge tire wear due to the lower center of gravity.
