Snow + 128i = F U N ! ! ! !
Finally I'm having fun in my 128i!
Whilst trucks, 4WD's & all sorts were sliding off HWY1 today my 128i performed admirably on Blizzaks courtesy of Gill at TireRack. Traction & grip were surprisingly good in the snow & not bad at all in few dry days we've had before the snow came down. Makes up a bit for the crap I had to deal with when I got broken into the other week. Anyway, here's some cell phone pics I fired off when I got home today... . |

They're $1495.08 shipped to Canada (Shipping itself was $225). The only thing I don't like is the fact that BMW centre caps wont fit these rims but overall, I love the way they look. . |

I went with the KM11 and Blizzack L25. It is true, the rubber grips down nicely. Just don't know how good the set will be once it is in its 2nd and 3rd season as the rubber starts wear out.

1HungryMan - I'm happy that I'm finally enjoying the car. It's taken a good amount of snow to do it but it's now bringing a smile to my face everytime I drive it!

The rims look great. They were my second pick, center cap issue bumped 'em. Did you even look into just getting some high quality metallic stickers? Maybe from Bavarian Autoworks or similar outlet? I did that for an old E30, wheels were so dented I needed a new set but had to pinch pennies.
Glad to hear the car gets around in the white stuff. |

haha you starting to notice the "fabrication" of the snow eh
With closer inspection, you're right, the small snow bits are attached to the rims. Random question tho, are you in the vfx business? |

I decided on not bothering with Snow Shoes here in North Vancouver, this is my third winter in Canada, and I expected nothing worse than the last two years. Not sure I made the right choice now ... had to spend more time driving my Wife's Mitsi Outlander than I like over the past week

yep - I create visual effects for my sins.
Sounds glamorous but it's basically sitting in front of a computer all day like everyone else! Keeps me in nice automobiles so I'll keep doing it until nobody wants me to do it any more! . |

LOL let me guess, you work at CIS? I'm in the vfx biz too in Toronto! Staring at a comp can be pretty bad on our health eh hehe. Thank god I've got a window near my desk. I've seen some coworkers crack without sunlight after a couple of weeks

woot! nicely done! There are some snows back here in Richmond and I didn't drive my car out since I still have my summer tires lol. However, I polish and wax my 128i in the garage during the week~ I'm just waiting for a sunny day so I can blind some people.

They brought me over to Vancouver from London a few years ago & I repaid them by becoming head of comp at MGM. My studio only has sunlight if I rip down the black sheets I taped over them! Are you an Intelligent Creature? . |

Awww ex-CIS eh, would have been nice if I could join em come early 2009. Wanted to work on Angels and Demons T_T I wonder if they got any bmw 1ers in that movie
I'm currently am at Mr.X Toronto branch. 3 Compers finished their contracts and are gone lol, more work for me will come for the next year! yeppie...... not! ahh MGM, I thought they were just a distribution company. I didn't think they had a studio in Vancouver for vfx work, quite shocking. So repaying em by jumping shp lol. Couldn't take the Deluxe takeover! :P |

Yep - MGM are still in the movie & TV business. They have a film studio in Vancouver/Burnaby and it's used for a lot of movies. Being on site & in house we save them a hell of a lot of cash compared to using outside vendors. Next project is designing & creating a whole bunch of VFX for the new Stargate Series... oh joy! Meanwhile... lots more snow due over the next 2 weeks so I'm glad I'm off until Mid Jan! Can't bare the 200+ km round trip commute when everyone is falling off the road causing delays! . |
