HELP: Need pics of you battery...
Hey guys, hope you can help me out. I need someone who can take a bunch of pics of their battery. I'm looking for a hi-res overhead shot so I can see how the cables/wires are routed.
I'm doing a conversion and, while there is a DIY, I really want to get as close to OEM as possible. I have all the parts I need, but would like to compare for accuracy. |

Just happened to have 2 pics of the battery I was taking so I could record the part number.
BTW, anyone know where that black clip in the middle is supposed to go? It's just sitting unplugged on mine. |

It's there and disconnected in all NA cars. It would connect to a battery disconnect switch and the other end is located underneath the backseat, from there it connects to another lead that connects to a magnetic pen switch at the windshield. All these items are to enable safe sea transport and besides that remaining wire are removed from the car at PDI

My negative terminal (disconnected in this picture, pls ignore the temporary small wires) looks different. Also included the label attached to the negative battery lead. It connects to the chassis on the right side on the trunk floor. Looked at your build thread, kudoos on your attention to OEM details and extensive write-ups.

Look under issue #14. This concerns the thick red cable on the bottom of my trunk picture, however the problem is at the other end where it connects to the fusebox above the passenger footwell. The last ~foot/30cm are cut off and an equal length cable with better connection (uses additional screw) to the fusebox is re-attached. Get this done while the campaign is running. My local dealer states that BMW dealers will honour these kinds of replacements for life, but my experience with Volvo was that the dealer that sold me the car did not check on outstanding rework and I ended up having to pay myself because the rework campaign ended already years ago and the replacement parts had become very difficult to source. |

eeghie > No problem. I don't mind at all. You're discussion here has been insightful. That said, funny that you guys mentioned the disparity between the negative cables. I've been digging around trying to understand why it's different.
I'm piecing together the parts needed for the 1M trunk conversion. I want to do this properly and don't want to hack/extend any of the cables. 61127845120 > $22.37 (Brown Cable) 61127618679 > $156.70 (Black Cable) The price difference is significant. Which one is the proper cable though? Note: Issue #14 on the Artemis thread is in reference to the positive cable. Last edited by TUN3D; 08-21-2014 at 10:17 AM.. |

eeghie > You're the man sir!!! Thanks for that pic. If that's the case then no need to splurge on the more expensive cable. Brown it is...
Dackelone > Thanks man! I was wondering when u were gonna show up -- lol. On a different note, I'm having a hard time finding the PPK2 horn relocation brackets/bolts, etc. Would you be willing to help me out? I have images of the parts -- just no numbers. ================= In reference to the battery, maybe you guys can help me clear up one more thing. The foam piece where the tool-kit goes... ...I've looked up and down on realoem -- can't find it. Do you guys know the name of this piece or have a part number? |

eeghie > LMAO! I looked everywhere but that diagram.
Dackelone > That's the pic for the relay. I was referring to the actual horn brackets/mounts. Last edited by TUN3D; 09-04-2014 at 02:15 PM.. |
