N55 tuning in Europe
Any information, experiences... tuning, aftermarket wheels, exhausts...
Upsolute from Wien can do N54 but still nothing for N55. Any experiences with SKN? http://www.skn-tuning.de/de/index.html They have somethin, I think. |

Depends on what you want to do with your car. I am running JB3 (my JB4 is on the way ) and I am extremely happy with it. I have a N54 though. Juice Box does do a piggyback for the N55 and I have also heard that Icarbon does make a downpipe for the N55.

from Essen last December...
I talked to the guys from SKN at the Essen Motor Show last month. They said they only have a tune for the N54 right now. 1,600 euros for stage one, which will get you about 60 PS more and over 500 Nm of torque. 1/2 day install. What I like about most of the flash tunes in Germany is they always tune the car on a dyno. SKN seemed very upfront and like a top notch company to me. It is interesting that SKN is having a sale right now on the stage one kits. 1,119 euros instead of 1,600 euros. http://www.skn-tuning.de/de/kategorie780.html They also had a stage two N54 kit which was an exhaust and larger intercooler. I think they said that was about 3,000 euros for that one. Takes three days to install they said. One thing about numbers quoted over here... I saw a story in Auto Motor und Sport testing a few tuned 135i's. Some had over 410 PS some only 360 PS... but all had about the same acceleration and top speeds. So... I think some of these guys bend the truth a bit. I know TecTech will not quote any numbers. They will instead ask you how you want the power band shapped. Hp to come at high revs or low? Power to come on gradual or like a switch? I think that is an interesting way to satsify customers. Here is an old thread I started about flash tunes in Germany/Europe. I think these are all the top firms that I know of offering tunes for the 135i. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...+tunes+germany I am really thinking to go with MS Tuning come spring time. Then again... getting a tune in the winter months might get you a bigger discount? Dackel |

As far as I know, no company that I know of works with either. Juice Box, which is sold by either Burger Motorsports or N54tuning.com I think ships world wide and have an excellent customer service. Another person you can ask is kcskyrider. His 135 (N54) is VERY modded and could possibly answer your questions better when it comes to modding your 135. He has been using Juice Box for a long time now.

So what you are looking for is more like a flash tune of the ECU. Not a piggyback, right?

I prefer ECU remap (or reflash) like I did on my ex. STI and EVO, but I'm not against piggyback, just don't want to install myself no matter how simply is. That is why I need some company here in Europe.

What about a custom tune instead of a flash?
Back in October or so I got dyno'd at Peter Schroop's place in Stuttgart and he has been tuning BMWs for years. He will do a tune on the dyno, adjusting the car to put out about 360 HP but will go higher if I put an intercooler on and something else he mentioned I should do. But he says he would need the car all day and can get 360 out of the car without additional parts added, but won't go above that until I add stuff like cooling etc...
His website is at the bottom of the dyno results at: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...93#post8317393 |
