Yeah, if you're getting thru work or the like, it won't be the home version.

Changed cabin filter, DRL bulbs, and rear signal bulbs. Changed power steering reservoir and filled with new fluid (the green stuff). Flushed brake fluid. I use a Ford spec'd Dot 3 in all my cars because of the high 500+ degree (dry) boiling point.

Checked for signs of oil leaks...valve cover appears ok from the top, and no oil in the sparkplug wells. I've read here that a leaking oil filter housing/adapter can let oil into the cooling system, so I sucked the coolant out of the surge/overflow tank, and checked for signs of oil. Found none. Added a bottle of Water Wetter, and 2 quarts of fresh 50/50.

What did i do for my 1?

I hit a bump that VDOT deems acceptable on the highway for road work and now my steering wheel is off by about 1/2" .

Thanks VDOT!

Alignment time....unless I bent something.

Bit of a bulk update, as a few things went on in the last few weeks.

Installed M Performance Springs on Bilstein B8s

Installed GoFastBits Diverter Valve

Removed Clutch Delay Valve

Changed from COBB Stage 2+ to MHD Stage 2+

Installed BMS Intake

Added the wheel stud conversion, 75mm. Did it because my prior experiences with BMW wheel bolts made tire rotation a PITA. It's not so bad on 1's because the hub-centric design allows the wheel to be positioned better for the bolts. But I did realize that the studs will allow me to add spacers. So, next project will be 12.5mm spacers.

That DV+ sounds like a nice little unit, but it looks like it's pretty buried down in the engine compartment. How involved was the install? Is pulling the
Intake enough? Or is it a whole afternoon of getting things out of the way?

I've done all the other work, but I paid a shop to install the dv. Looked like a nightmare. Two labor hours.

How do you like the B8s and the Performance springs? Have you had them on long enough to give an opinion, or do you need more time with them?

How about MHD Stage 2+?

I'm pretty happy with the dampers/springs. The car just feels more composed in the corners without feeling super harsh. I can tell that there's less roll. (and the backend steps out easier on throttle, haha) It's more firm than before, but not a bad ride. It also didn't lower the car much at all, which is what I wanted.

The MHD tune has been good so far. The burbles, even in OEM mode, are a bit much, tbh, but I can live with them. Power comes on more smoothly than my last tune. I still plan on doing meth and a protune in the spring.

I really like the wifi gauge display on my phone. That's a nice feature I wasn't using with my last tune.

Finally installed an E93 M front sway bar.

Wow! Should have done this long ago. I think a large part of the improvement is from the bushings. It actually feels softer during normal driving, but stiffer when you start taking corners. Win/win!!

Are the bushings different or is it just you put in new(er) ones?

How's the balance with the rear arb?

The bushings on the M bar are completely different. The stock bushings on the 1er bar are bonded to the bar itself. The M bar bushings are mostly hard plastic and they lock together, and to the bracket. The bar is free to rotate in the bushings. That means the 1er bar adds to the spring rate, and will also force the bar to return to neutral after a droop, where the M bar will not. Also lowering the 1er with the stock bar is not good as it puts constant twist on the bushings.

Thanks - I had no idea.

When I upgraded my front arb to a 135i sway the bushings were off the bar and I just slid them into position. No bonding done. Is this bad? I don't recall seeing any sway bar diy's using glue.

Also, I've got adjustable endlinks (Whiteline) and adjusted them with the car at ride level.

I thought I read somewhere that you weren't supposed to mix coil brands...?

My custom Recaro Sportster CS leathers are almost done. Still some small touches to make and then they'll be shipped off to me. Recaro is building my seats now and they should be to me by early January. Can't wait to get these installed in the 1

(leathers aren't fully installed on these pictures, just dry fit)

Maybe it is a year thing. My car is a 2013. Tried peeling the bushings off but they were stuck on there really good. Could not pry them off with a screwdriver.

Edit: The parts diagram shows them as separate, so not sure exactly what is going on there.

Hmmm. Also have a 2013 and the same with the original arb bushings.

I did notice a slight improvement in ride and handling with the newer bar. I guess it's a combination of no bushing windup and the adjustable endlinks. (car is on BMWP springs). The 135i bar has about 5" less taper than the 128i bar so slightly stiffer.

Those look really nice. What's the name of that color?

What's going to be done to the back seats?

It's oem Cinnamon leather color. I do think there's a but of saturation in his pics but I'm told it should be 99% match to oem.

For the rest of the interior I bought a set of spare tan rear seats and door cards with tan inserts. I'm in the process of dyeing those pieces with oem Cinnamon color as well.
