Finally got it on the lift and luckily only had to drop downpipes to access the area. Got that back together and was about to do ofhg and realized the oil cooler feed and return lines are leaking what looks to be both sides and in poor condition. So im looking at mishimoto 10an adapters and braided lines now. Those oem hoses are like $400 for the pair. Sheesh! Good luck to you and the vanos |

Hit 80,000 miles today. About double of when I bought it almost 5 years ago. Decided with the way I drive it, it's really more of a grand tour (GT) coupe.
Needed new tires and my commute is a bit longer to the new house so I figured I would try a set of Bridgestone DriveGuard tires. Only driven a few miles so far. They are MUCH better of a run flat than the original potenzas RE050 RFT that came on the car when I bought it. More compliant / comfortable ride. No hard bang edges over bumps. That said, I think I need to go back and get it realigned b/c it wanders a bit on the road. The alignment is pretty neutral with very little toe-in up front and only 0.6 negative camber. I think I used to have a bit more toe and closer to 0.8-1.0 neg camber.

Well..., poo.
Looks like my Saturday will be spent pulling my oil pan & extracting the broken bolts from the power steering pump mount bosses. There is pretty much no access at all to the side mount, and the top front mount just isn't cooperating. I committed to pulling the pan... Then I had a friend who is an excellent wrench take a look for me just to be sure I wasn't missing any options. Yeah... He looked at everything, listened patiently as I walked him through everything tried so far. Looked everything over again, even considered if attacking from above was an option, and then laughed. His first comment, reached all on his own with no real influence from me (I was hoping I missed something obvi, but no such luck ) "When ya get the pan off, swing by and we'll get those bastids out!" He figures that with the time wasted trying to remove them so far I probably could have had it out already and used way way less bad words...

I read that with a Boston accent!
Today I picked up my clubsport s GTI muffler from fedex. There was a lady waiting outside and watching me fit the big box in the 1er. I asked her if She thought the box could fit, she looked at me with doubtful eyes, but I was able to wiggle it in! It always amazes people what can fit in our little 1 series!

Took a picture of it in a field while I was doing some flying. Poor thing hasn't seen smooth pavement in 3 months, let alone any sort of decent twisties. East Texas just doesn't work that way...
A safari-style build would be so fun for how I use it right now.

Finally got rid of the #@$#@$@!# runflat tires. Even in tall-sidewall 205/55/16 they made my car feel like it had winter boots on.
Sam's Club had a great deal on Continental DWS06's, and even a free mount and balance deal for their special members, which conveniently Mom is one. But the bummer was *3.5 weeks* to get a time slot to have them mounted and balanced. "Covid issues" allegedly. But patience is a virtue, and finally got them mounted today. What a difference! Sooo much smoother and quieter! So if anyone is in SW FL and wants a set of half-worn BMW star-marked, bought from the dealer for I don't want to know how much, Continental RFTs, they are free to a good home. I'd have to look at the records but I think they have less than 15K on them. Sticking them on Craigslist otherwise. Next project once an eBay purchase arrives - swapping out the ugly gloss black interior trim for the dark poplar wood trim. Which will go much nicer with my Savannah Beige interior.

Long road trips are a different story though. Quadriplegics and people I despise are the only ones I'd put in the back. That being said, at lease it would be doable. I could barely do 10min in a friends S550. Roof was so low I had to crane my neck to the side to not hit the roof, and felt like I was about to snap my spine over every bump... Camaros aren't much better either. Had I not been trying to nap in the back during a 3 hour road trip I would have been miserable... |

Looks great! As much as I normally rail against non-colors, Space Gray just WORKS on these cars. Something about the way the color works with the Bangle contours to make the car look like liquid metal or something.
If I had ordered my car new it would not be Space Gray, but I am happy that it is.

It's "Green six-speed Touring 328!" I wasn't sure such things still existed in 2011. Back when the "28" was a proper engine. Love it.

The amusing part is I did Euro Delivery. BMW Welt didn't notice the badge, I didn't notice the badge until I took it to a BMW event the weekend after my re-delivery in the US and one of the other guys in my BMWCCA chapter pointed it out. Went back to the pictures from Munich and sure enough, it was like that from day 1. Also, if you want to see a funny look on German's face, yank the shift knob off your brand-new BMW and pop a ZHP knob on while they are doing the presentation song-and-dance at BMW Welt. "Vat ah you doink???" I still think my Space Gray 128i is a little boring, but the color does really work on these cars.

Upright 3/4 bass goes in just fine. Fits in the passenger seat.
