no videos of the car yet. it does sound identical to a 1M with the same exhaust system. So you can youtube whatever 1M sound you like and match their system on your car.

The car is not finished yet. It still needs a suspension overhaul, brakes, and a new cosmetic kit that will all start happening over the next two weeks.

Here are a few pics of it as it currently aways its next set of mods.

Now the real question is, does anyone know of a diffuser that has the same cutouts as the 1m but for the 135i?

There are none. I checked. Neither of the exhaust openings on the 1m diffuser line up with a 135i diffuser.

The guys in Aus instead modified the exhaust to fit a 135i quad diffuser by cutting and welding extensions between the muffer and the tips to spread them apart.

hey, ilike, any chance you could take a photo of the battery tray in the trunk itself?

i have no idea how it's shaped differently, or how the battery fits in, and where?

would be awesome

Hey ilikebmxbikes,

Epic post, thanks for giving back to the forums and posting all the part numbers instead of just saying "hah, look what I did!".

Question about the last bit of parts w/ the rear bumper carrier : Was this to run the 1M bumper, or do you need it if you're still running the 135i bumper?

You need the 1M rear bumper carrier because it has the exhaust hangars for the quad exhaust welded onto it. Other than the hangars it is identical to your 135i one.

Your options are buy a 1M bumper carrier ~$150ish or have hangars custom welded onto your 135i one. The price will probably be very similar.

Yeah the image for the 1M bracket is the same which is misleading. I bought it in pure faith because my advisor told me he knew it was needed but had no idea why because its a different PN.

Its also important to note that Real OEM diagrams are often not 100% accurate and many diagrams on the 1M listings are different parts but reuse the 135i images.

Can you watermark the image you posted or make it very clear it is a 135I one. I dont want people to mistake it for 1M parts and order stuff up. Some people dont like to read.

Would you loose an significant power when upgrading to a 1m exhaust system due to flow/back pressure of that quad design? I know my Riss Racing exhaust is fairly straight by design.

The axelback will contribute little to no performance change

yup, E87's battery tray is already small, E87 has a shorter rear bumper.. the battery runs left to right in a rectangular hole - vs the E82 on a diagnoal in a more square hole.

E82 has a longer rear bumper, and the battery tray extends as such

won't work, ima have to make a custom shallow battery tray with a braille.. or chop the bottom of the stock one and seal it.. eh something *places near bottom of to-do list*, would give tons of room to just fit piping underneath the tray.

a proper quad will be fully custom on the hatch... or just not run a giant barrel muffler, just have the muffler back a bit further before the diff or something, is another easy option and run the two pipes either side of the dif lol

it's a really weird thing to do, extend the whole rear of the car for the coupe

i'm guessing it looked gumby with the same length as the hatch lol, wrong lines.

does explain why E82's weigh a bit more though.

Gumby cars

That sucks. Are you going to do a conversion? Please say yes!

If you have the opportunity to make a custom exhaust, I would go for side-exit. I think that would look insane on a 130i!

Best of luck mate!

It's on the plans, given EVERY length is different to the E82, even fitting a standard exit muffler may not be possible (will have to measure up from the missus) without getting a shop to weld it up for me.. and there's a LOT of other external fixes/improvements to go with it (wide to fit enough rubber etc.).. and it's going to be after the N54 goes in, after it's built, then single, and then the M3 rear subframe/diff/brakes go in... so yeah, a waaaaays down the list... were it possible to do it as easily as the E82's, it'd be a LOT higher in the list for cool factor lol.

I contemplated side exit! be so badass, spitting flames, saving weight... win win!

but... not street OR race legal for the races i'd like to run, unless i want to do the local/state stuff with open wheelers in unrestricted time attack stuff :P.. in fact, even then i think it may require rear-exit anyway lol

and thanks! i'll try not to disappoint :P
