hi guys, looking for an idea to mount an iphone 11. its a bit heavy for the cd mount i have....the mount shifts out.
I have thought of a vent mount, but i am a bit worried for when the heater is on and the phone getting hot.

Magnet mount
I have this magnet mount in each of our three cars. Have used this for at least 5 years in my 135 (after all the failed dash and CD slot mounts).

i was actually thinking of doing the same, well similar. this item i think uses a flat metal plat to go inbetween your phone and phone cover. looks like it could work in the same spot as you. I use spotify and then aux, so the radio screen is then null and void.

The downside is it may affect wireless charging if that's a feature you use.

I have used the magnetic metal plate solution before, but I prefer the minimal simplicity of the metal ball on the dash. If you prefer to not have a case with a magnet on the back (like my wife) you can keep a simple phone case with the magnet attached, in your glove box for occasional use.

nice solid thing, doesnt move around and good quality. with a Xiaomi Redmi - moms phone. the metal plate can sit in the cover and the magnet grips well. with an iphone 11 - phone is just heavy, cannot have it in a cover. The plastic cover i think is also thick. so i just stuck it to the outside of the cover and the magnets grip the metal tab well. lighter phones you can the tab just in the plastic cover but anything around an i11 weight or more it needs to grip the metal.

Looks like maybe a ProClip, at least similar. See https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...3&postcount=30 and https://www.proclipusa.com/products/...-1-series-2005.

Awww
And yeah, that's why I don't have one (yet – still working on staying convinced that the controls being blocked by my current CD-slot mount aren't all that important and that the shaking phone is really OK). |

This is less of a 'mount' solution and more of a 'plop it into the oddments tray' solution, but the Induktiv charging solution I installed in my 2010 128i is quite handy:
I also understand that Rennline is working on an E82 induction charging solution that leverages iPhone MagSafe (similar to these 3-series solutions): https://www.rennline.com/bmw/3-serie.../phone-mounts/ They are working on engineering a bracket that would mount behind the passenger-side trim - ETA sometime in 2023 per email from Damien Harshbarger at Rennline (if more people email him, maybe it'll help speed up the process). The only downside is you'd have to route a USB-C cable (compared to the Induktiv, where everything is hidden). |

I just run this. With MagSafe the phone just stays on and charges at the same time.
Run in the middle vent, cable run behind the trim into the glovebox. All tucked away… https://www.belkin.com/magnetic-wire.../P-WIC004.html Paid 39.99 when I got it, it seems price went up substantially. |
