Exhaust gasket

A have a question that I hope some one could answer. I installed the BMW performance exhaust and everything went well. Except that I would have thought that the flange joint where the gasket resides would pull together tighter and seal up. The new gasket does fit and I don't notice any leakage right after installation. But it sure doesn't fit snug like the old one.
Will the gasket expand with run time and the heat that would develop?
This is my assumption.
Anyone able to say for sure?
By the way the sound is exactly what I was looking for! Not to loud or raspy. It just sounds good.

^^That gasket looks fine. If anything over time the gasket will "smush" down and compress slightly. Looks fine to me the way it sits now.

PS: I LOVE my PE too!
