Remus Race Quad Exhaust review/pics
On Wednesday, both my ebay carbon fiber quad diffuser and Remus race Quad exhaust showed up at my house. Of course, I was super excited to get them installed so I got to work right after I got home.
The ebay diffuser is about what I expected. Good looking finish overall and fitment was good enough. It wasn't perfect by any means. It took a little flexing of the diffuser and bumper to get everything to fit, but it wasn't bad with two people. There are a few barely noticeable flaws in the carbon fiber weave, but I probably wouldn't have been able to find them if I didn't have the diffuser in my hand turning it around. Overall it looks great. I purchased it from Ebay user Speed-motoring. The paypal payment went to JC Sportline, so this is the same diffuser that they offer. The Remus exhaust is overall a very nice piece. It's probably the cheapest out of the box quad exhaust option, but it is also (in my opinion) one of the best looking. Those carbon fiber inlays in the exhaust tips really look good beside the matching diffuser. Installation of the exhaust went pretty smoothly. The one disappointing thing about this "axle-back" is that is isn't actually an axle back. The kit doesn't come with the pipe that goes from the back of the muffler to the mid-pipe section. This means you have to cut your stock pipes right behind the factory muffler and use these on the new system as well. The Remus muffler slips over the old pipe and comes with a clamp to tighten it down. One of the hardest parts about the install is getting the tips where you want them. When I first got it all together, the driver side tips were too sunken into the diffuser and the passenger side ones were sticking out too much and sagging a little compared to the other side. The connecting pipe that goes to the passenger side has a kind of pivot connector so you can angle up the passenger side a little more to fix the sag. I still don't have this 100% perfect, but I don't think anyone would notice unless I said something. And even then, they might not. I'm just really picky. Anyway, just plan to spend a little time adjusting the tips. The sound on this axle-back isn't quite as loud as I was expecting. Websites tend to label this exhaust differently with a lot of them having a street and race version listed. I don't think there is actually a difference. I think street refers to the old style tips (not offered anymore) whereas race refers to the carbon fiber inlay tips. Either way, the "race" version which I ordered is a little louder than my "performance exhaust" modded muffler (see here). Over stock, it would be a nice little bump in volume, but it isn't loud by any means. I think the car should have come like this from the factory. I haven't heard a 1M in person, but I would imagine the exhaust would probably be about this level of volume. Having said that, I probably will switch to N55 mids at some point to get a little more volume out of it. The exhaust has a very nice tone. It has that classic inline 6 sound at low rpms and then gets a higher pitched exotic note in the upper half of the RPM range. I will try to get an exhaust video up here in a few hundred miles once it has had a chance to be broken in. Here are a few pics. I will try to get some better ones with my actual camera rather than phone this weekend. Depends on the weather. Edit: Here's the videos so you don't have to scroll down. Here's one from the back with my actual camera. I was going to take a video, but my camera battery died as soon as we were starting to film. I'll get one soon.

Ok, here's that video I promised (finally). I actually ended up adding the Maddad mid-pipes in place of my factory n54 mids because the remus axle-back alone isn't as loud as I wanted. It's a little louder than stock, but that's about it.
Anyway, I'm loving this new setup. It has a great note even in this video with me just revving it, but it sounds way better under load. |

Hi Stvee, I have just done this very same mod. I am very happy with the result. I have a question for you. Do the tips exiting the box have very evident welds on the inside? Is this normal? Regards

Not that I have noticed. When you say box, do you mean the tips on the side with the muffler?
