questions about the Performance exhust

i wonder a think about the Performance exhaust system,

and it will have the Y-pipe people ar talking about,

but the exhaust system that is on the look like this:

if i will go on the performance system, how will it be withe the cat?

Are you asking if this will connect to the Stock Cats? The Performance Full Exhaust has this Y Pipe in place of the resonator. Check out this pic.

thanks, but i cant find the Y-pipe, the exhust i will buy it is not included, i am assuming u are from Germany, and that is where i am going to buy it on this site:http://www.salesafter.eu/product_inf...-n54-n55-.html

and they dont include the Y-pipe
so i need to buy the y-pipe from some anther place

The "y-pipe" only comes with the PE kit from BMW.You can not buy it separately! As long as the kit is complete and new(that you are looking at)... you should have no trouble.


You might try these two BMW dealers. They do mail order to all over the world and have very good prices.

No. The only thing you will need to cut is the old resonator(on the mid pipe) to install the PE y-pipe. BMW gives you very nice "sleeves" to mate up the new y-pipe to the mid pipe.

I did this install on my '11 135 vert last night. Replaced the stock setup with the PE y pipe and muffler. Very simple, clean install and it sounds fantastic!

i was talking to the swe bmw dealr and they dont include the y-pipe

There are a few differences between the US spec and Euro spec performance exhaust. The us spec PE doesn't have the Exhaust Valve in the muffler, where as the Euro spec does. The other difference is the US spec PE gets the Y-pipe and the Euro spec doesn't. Why? Because of noise control laws. Period. If you want the y-pipe with the PE you have to buy the US spec version. There is a difference.

^^Interesting. I only thought it was the EU/TUV "kba type approval" labels on the exhaust bits/parts - that might be different. But the sound issue/laws makes sense. I did not not think the EU kit deleted the y-pipe and servo valve on the muffler. ?

I checked the PE part number I have on my car. My car is a USA model, so I have bmw p/n 18102208806

My PE kit came with the y-pipe and all the clamps. Only thing "extra" I needed was the two down pipe gaskets, when you remove the mid pipe to cut it. The old ones were toast. You might also need some new nuts for the DP's gaskets. Mine snapped off - so I bought some stainless steel bolts/nuts.

I paid 650 euros for my PE w/o German 19% sales tax. And its worth every damm penny!!! The PE just sounds better and better as the miles pile on. Now at +12K miles and the exhaust is just starting to hit its sweet spot! I HIGHLY recommend a PE!

dackalone yeah my friend Patrick, the one who did my exhaust, has the eu PE in his garage, and it had the exhaust valve. I asked him if he added it and he told me it came with it. I told him the US spec models didn't get it and he told me it was required by TUV and so BMW had to have it even on the PE.

Dear Dackelone! I see the performance muffler is almost the similar size as the 135 standard silencer. Do you have ANY idea, how big approximately is the box? In inches/cm, whatever?
I am trying to find out the maximum size of a rear silencer that would fit a e87 1 series (in my case, a hatchback 120d).
I came accross a very cheap exhaust system from E61 2007 535d which has an enormous rear silencer - it's roughly 50cm wide, 36cm long and 18cm tall.
What do you think? Is the performance silencer really smaller?
