Wheel alignment: is it necessary?
Hi, I have a 135i sport package with 17k miles.
I will replace the rear tyres and I will balance the 4 tyres. The car doesnt seem to require wheel alignment, and at the dealer they told me that if I dont feel the car pulls to one side it isnt necessary... My question is: do you have to align the wheels after a certain # of miles or is it just because you feel like it? Thanks |

I align when I notice any funny behavior in the suspension, or if I notice any of my tires starting to wear unevenly. I try to check tires once a month at least.

Depends how you drive the car, what you use it for. I would probably check the alignment every couple of years for a street driven car as long as you haven't clipped any curbs etc. I have my own preferences for alignment specs., slightly different from stock and absent any hard bumps/potholes I watch tire wear and re-check every other summer.

I get the car aligned every spring. I drives noticeably more quiet (less tire noise) and smoother immediately after the alignment. I've never noticed such a dramatic change aligning any car previously. Do it, it's not too much money and it's worth it.
