HELP!
So I'm disabled and usually I have the person working at the gas station fill up gas for me and always fill up 93 octane but this time he heard wrong and filled up 87 octane (full tank btw), my car is a N54 and has upgraded turbos, FBO, and a custom tune for 93 octane and the codes I got from driving it back home (drove very slowly) are:
2A87 Outlet - Vanos variable cam control test, mechanics 3100 Boost - Pressure control, deactivation My question is, would some octane booster help my situation if I add some to the tank now?? Thanks ahead!

That's usually a code that can be remedied by cleaning your vanos solenoids. The 3100 just means you're kicked into limp mode because of it. I wouldn't do octane booster but that's just me. I just don't actually know what it is really. I'd probably just putter in it or let it idle all day I don't know. Maybe siphon it into another car if possible. I'd be pissed though. If you have access to e85 I'd add that once i got it down some and calculate my octane.

oof! I'm sorry to hear that. If you're using a JB4, I would say plop it into Map 4 and just drive until the tank is out. Maybe you should get a sticker for the fuel door that reads "93OCT ONLY!!!!".

Doubt those faults are related to octane, you should just take it easy for this tank of gas and stay out of boost.... like sssnakeman said, you probably need a vanos solenoid. Also replace the oil filter with a new bmw one, and change the oil, sometimes that can help as 2a87 can be related to oil pressure

I would buy a bottle of VP octane booster like the SRT guys use on the stage 3 srt neons. Pour that in, and it should get you above 93 pump.

I would throw some royal purple in it will get you to 91. I believe they recommend only one can. Either that or you can put some non dyed race fuel in the tank from sonnoco or your local track. You will have to do the math depending on the octane.
