Sydney servicing - recommended indy.
Have just picked up a manual 2010 E82 125i and need to complete a scheduled service.
Given age and value I have no particular interest in having it serviced at the dealership after the first quote I got based on scheduled maintenance (80km 'major service' min $1,400 ex. brakes). To my mind the value of having a dealer stamp in the service manual is marginal at this point on the depreciation curve. I want it serviced well, by an honest mechanic at a reasonable rate. As such I want to develop a relationship with a good indy. I've read a lot of reviews online (here and bigpond) but nothing posted recently. It seems like the options are: - Advan - BMSAutohaus - BMWise - Peak? Who do you guys swear by and why? |

I used BMS Autohaus in Darlinghurst a couple of weeks back for brake fluid flush and CDV delete. Price was reasonable, honest service and they called to ask if I wanted to change the microfilter as the indicator had come up on the I-drive but after taking it out they said it didn't need changing so replaced and reset the indicator at no charge.
I haven't used them or anyone else for a Bimmer service yet but chose them as they're walking distance to my work. At this stage I'll be going back at the end of a year when it's service time.

It really depends on where you live. Advan, Hills Euro and BMS are all pretty well known but if you live in the Eastern Suburbs BMS is definitely the most convenient. |

If your looking for something in the inner west i recommend Metro service centre.
I use them for my Track car and daily drive. There are always M cars in there. They are up for a chat too as they are into cars. Owners son who is one of the mechanics has a E46 M3 and the owner has a few classic muscle cars. 1-3 Edinburgh Rd, Marrickville NSW 2204 Short walk to St Peters Station too. http://metroservicecentre.com.au/

I recently used Advan for the first time and would not hesitate to recommend them. Ownership of the firm recently changed and I found Adam and his team to be very easy to deal with and do good work at reasonable prices. In particular they easily met my need to do a 135i radiator and charge pipe replacement early in the day as I was only visiting Sydney on route to the South Coast.

Peter Mabey BMW in Crows Nest is a good option if you live near the bridge. He's not the guy for fancy mods (that's Advan) but if you just want a BMW expert who knows the cars he's worth a look.

advan is the place to go and they can do your service while you wait
And very reasonably priced Adam is a great guy to deal with and the boys really know their stuff. Give them a ring and have a chat with them |

I've used most of the shops listed above and would say the best service and pricing is from the boys at Hills Eurohaus. Very professional and knowledgeable about all Euro cars.

been to advan once for valve cover gasket and oil filter housing change to save time since it was my exam time, car same back with coolant leak everywhere and CEL up, coolant hose under airbox (those one with spring clips) was not even tighten, I ended up fixing everything myself (waterpump + thermostat and full cooling system overhaul)...

Just got it back from Barry at BMS - what a great workshop, and good communication throughout the day letting me know what was a must do, what was a nice to do, what could see me through to the next service. Really appreciated that.
He mentioned they could also install parts from BMR if i want to go down that path. Which i do. However next step is probably a remap and dyno. |

My whole family gets their cars serviced at advan for over three years now
Honest, quality workmanship and very fair prices. Everyone I send there say the same thing after being ripped off by most of the Sydney so called specialists. |
