CF Trunk Shocks?

Hello All,

I have a CF trunk and I put it on last night. What I have found is the stock shocks seem very rigid for the weight of the new trunk. I know an option is to run without them although I would prefer to keep it functional.

What have others done? Is there a shock that is lighter pressure? Only use one and be careful? Input and suggestions appreciated, thanks!!

Yup- they're spec'd by weight and no doubt you've halved that at least. Sadly I can't tell you what exactly to get, but can say that gas struts/springs can be had for wholesale cost from mcmaster-carr, along with a crap ton of other hardware. I source parts from them all the time.

Without looking at my car, if there are two shocks you could try removing one of them, worth a shot since it's free. If there's only one then I'm no help lol.

I would not run only one. That would place a torsional load on the trunk, which would probably cause the CF to hairline crack over time. None or both...

I agree with only using one. I prefer to have two. With how many CF trunks that are out there I am surprised this has not been asked before. :P

I want to say most switch over to F8X shocks.

Maybe ilikebmxbikes can chime in on what he knows/uses.
