2012 135i DCT (Would like to MOD until I reach around 450-500whp

Hi there,

I been reading this forum for the pass 45 mins and I haven't found my answer.

Currently I drive a 2012 135i DCT N55. My current mods are JB4 ECU on MAP 2, VRSF 7 Inch FMIC, w/ charge pipe, Downpipe and intake. I guess I would consider this close to a FBO 135i. I have never dyno my car to see what it's making, but from what I read a setup similar to mine people are seeing around 360-380whp MAX. My goal is to get the car to 450-500whp, I think 450ish is a sweet spot, but if it gets closer to 500 it's okay too. Obviously I need to upgrade my stock turbo, but my questions is if I decide to upgrade my stock turbo what do I need to do in regards to ECU/Tuning? Do I need to replace the JB4, should I use the auto tune MAP I believe it's number 5 or do i need another type of ECU to custom tune? Also do I need to buy bigger fuel system and if so what items do I need? Assuming bigger injectors and fuel pump?

If someone wouldn't mind replying with a list of items I would need along with a bigger turbo kit that would be great. I don't want to upgrade the turbo and find out I'm missing other items that are required in order to run properly and safely.

Thanks in advanced.

Fuel it stage 3 fuel pump to run higher content of ethanol. Pure stage 2 turbos.. jb4 works fine you do not need to change the ecu stock works fine. INlets, and meth That should definetly get you to 500hp

Garage List
This is the full list for a 450whp build (minus maintenance)

Stage 2 turbo (pure or Vargas) (with upgraded DV)
Downpipe
Chargepipe
Intercooler (recommend 7")
Intake
Inlet (pure)
Meth injection
Fuel-it stage 2

In terms of tune, you have a couple of options. Can either do a plug and play jb4 with the BMS backend flash for upgraded turbos, or you can do straight MHD flash (custom by Ken).

I know you already have a few of these things, so just weed out what you do and don't need.

The first thing you need to do is determine what dme your car has. If your ecu is flash-able, you will need mhd to run the bms bef or you can run flash only. If it isn't flash-able, you need to wait until mhd releases their flash procedure for your ecu. Without the flash, your clutches will slip while running the jb4 with a stage two turbo.

Go to realoem.com and post what dme is listed for your car.

Not sure but the stock dct clutch pack can hold a lot. My buddy's car is ps2, 480 ish whp, I think torque was around the same, holds no problem for the last two plus years. And he has been to multiple 1/2 events and does not take it easy on his car.

Same transmission in the 335is, e9x m3, and I believe f8x m3/m4 (I know the flywheel is different though). Anyway, you could look at those platforms as well if you really wanted to research how durable the dct trans is.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what does upgraded DV mean? Are you referring to blow off valve?

DV is the Diverter Valve. The one that comes in our cars is plastic and prone to cracking/ under high boost conditions, thereby causing a boost leak. When you upgrade the turbo, a lot of people recommend upgrading the DV at the same time since it is mounted on the turbo.

It's the same idea as upgrading Chargepipes..some people's crack under stock boost pressure, other's hold up even when they're tuned. I just rather be safe then sorry, especially since the DV is in a trickier location to get too.

Also, PS2 stands for Pure Stage 2 turbo.
