exhaust notes
n55 bmw 135i similar sound like this n55 bmw m2.
the crackles and pops are amazing. They share the same engine so in theory the same exhaust note is achievable, right? not much information from the poster Quote:

It's mostly from the exhaust having an open muffler bypass valve(s). And partly due to new engine SW I think.
I have a friend ( Artemis ) with a Performance Exhaust on his M2, and when it's in the "SportPlus" track mode... man is it LOUD and it sounds just like this video. Of course BMW says you should only engage the "track mode" when driving on a race track. I think your best bet is to get a BMW Performance Exhaust for your 135i. It's so nice. Here it is on my N54, 135i... The PE is slightly louder on N55's bc they only have one catalizer as opposed to the N54's four cats.

It's in the software mostly. Obviously you need the hardware to support it but the tune plays a huge role in it.
I have an M2 with catted Downpipe Resonator delete and Free Flow Exhaust from Dinan and the car on stock software pops and bangs heavily. My 135i does not have PPK and although it has M Performance Exhaust and Downpipe it does not pop and bang.

I have the Dinan Stage 2 software on my 135i with the Performance exhaust which comes with the y-pipe/resonator delete, just like the 135is in the above video and it makes a similar, if not more aggressive sound. Again (and as you said as well) the popping and crackling comes from the software, and the hardware (Performance exhaust) increases the volume and improves the tone. |
