How-To: Under Dash Oddments Tray (LHD)
For those looking for the part number --> http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E8..._panel_bottom/
I was able to find mine used on ebay from a European salvage yard. (same for the headlight switch if that question comes up) The how to remove things can be found here --> https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...-panel/Pl87Nbh #12 - #15 all need to come off (in numerical order, 12, 13, 15, 14) The Crash Foam confused me (pic 2). I got my hands behind it to see if it pulled out or what was going on. I could feel it wiggle back and forth and up/down some, and by that I could find about where it was attached. With my hands near and shoved in as far as they'd go I just gave a quick pull. It came out, damaged ... 2 of the 3 retaining things pulled out. I didn't care, it's now garbage. But now I could see where and how they attached, pics 3, 4, 5. Plastic pry tool and I got the forward retainer out. The upper one just pushes through and there's a little gap to pull it out towards you. The screw retainer in pic 6 needs to be moved to the location in pic 7. Now just install in reverse order and you end up with a new storage area (pic 8). |

I need one of those...
Has anyone ever actually gotten headlights with the manual leveling and hooked up the dial on the Euro Switch? Back in the day I did that with my '02 Golf TDI, and I have had the silver version of that switch on my e91 since new, but have never figured out what the right parts are to make it work. I assume Euro Halogen headlights and some wiring? Coding? On the VW it was just two wires run to the leveling motors from the switch, but what are the chances a BMW is that simple? ![]()

I believe it's just coding. I have yet to find the right combination though. The switch is manual and auto. If left in position 0 they are in auto, far as I understand. Honestly it's probably as easy as comparing euro coding data vs us. I just haven't taken the time. The front fog light button does require wiring, that I know. My plan here was to wire it to the cornering lights. |

I paid $44.46 shipping. And $39.09 for the part. IIRC took 3 days to get it. Or I should say I don't think that was a bad cost for shipping. I don't know what actual cost was. The seller just came up with numbers so ebay was happy. I'd told him/her what I wanted to pay total shipped and they got back to me with and itemized invoice and I just paid it. |

when they mention special tool req'd to remove the center instr panel, I assume they mean a plastic trim puller/pry tool, right?
"Removing and installing (replacing) centre trim for instrument panel" Just pops right off? |

I bought one from a salvage yard in Latvia (15 Euros vs. 185 Euros for a new one). It's a bit banged up, so I haven't decided whether I'll install it - have to spend more time cleaning it up.
The cubbyhole is slightly tapered top to bottom and it's much shallower at the bottom than across the top: the bottom is about 4 inches deep by 2-3/4 inches wide. It will fit my iPhone 13 Mini or a pair of sunglasses, but not both at the same time. Because the cubbyhole is so shallow, the phone and the glasses both stick out beyond the forward edge of the cubby. |

I just wish it had a nice little door to close it. It's handy, but I don't reallt like open oddment trays.
I still have to find use for mine.
