BMW 135i N55 Engine going bad at 75k Miles.

As the title says the nightmare has begun.
I’ve been in the market for a CLEAN 135i for 5 months now and finally decided to pull the trigger on a 1 owner, clean title, no accidents, and maintenance records in BMW Of Naples, here in South Florida. Went to the dealership in Miami, “Sports Cars Miami” to be precise. Car was in overall good shape, in need of some love. Black with beige boston leather, convertible. Took the car out of the dealership May 22nd at 7:10 PM. Car felt nice for the first 3 blocks, went onto 95 north ramp, trying to get up to speed, revved up the car up to 4k RPM”s, limp mode came on, service engine soon light came on, and my worse nightmare started. Texted the guy at the dealer, he told me to bring back the car on monday. Sunday passes by, car is sitting in my garage reading all over this forum to figure out what the issue was. Monday, took the car to the dealership and they stated the car had bad coils and sparkplugs, they swapped them for “new ones” and the car was ready to go. Monday passes by, drove the car approx 50 miles back home. Thursday, going to work, blown tire. Call the dealership, tow the truck, i get two new tires from them in the back, Bridgestone Pottenzas (Which they mismatched) One was runflat the other one was not. Drove the car back home, just for an engine knock starting to appear. Ive only driven the car for 100 miles now. Friday morning take it to my mechanic, pretty knowledgeable guy, he diagnoses that the rods are bad and i need a new engine. It has only been a week and now i need a new engine. I got AUL warranty from West Lake Financial, which only covers after 14 days after the date of purchase or 1000 miles, they pay 105 an hour, the deductible is $100 the rest is on me. Waiting on a response from the dealership, sent videos of the car with a check engine light on and the noise of the rods doing the infamous knocking sound. I’ve read a lot that these engines go bad, but who would’ve thought that a 75k miles with 7k miles oilchanges at the dealership will go bad? Towing the car tomorrow to the dealership in hopes of them fixing something. Not sure what to do, im 21 working pretty hard for my stuff but this is just crazy.
I’ll be more than happy to hear feedback from you guys. The price paid for the car was 18.000$ Taxes included. Keeping you posted in what the stealership says.
Be aware of this issue, seems like i ate the bad apple on this one.

I'd let them put a new engine in and I'd be happy with that. Thinking long term. Who knows in what way that motor was mistreated. This is a chance to get a fresh motor to maintain yourself. Or you can ditch the car at this point but I'd let them give me a new N55

In FL there is no cooling off period. However the question is whether the dealer had you sign for the car As-Is. there is usually a document in your paperwork for this, or some dealers will advertise a 7 day or 30 day warranty.

That said, I would take it to them and let them diagnose it. If it needs a new engine see what they will do. Many will stand behind their cars.

Keep us updated. I wouldn't be surprised if it needed a HPFP around that mileage, what year is it OP?

Also 7k mile oil changes? So the owner was paying for the additional changes instead of waiting the recommended 15k intervals?

Any other recent maintenance? Gaskets maybe?

As of today Tuesday June 1st, car was taken to the dealership last Saturday , sales representative told me to leave the car there and they will check everything out and give me an answer. Told him no way, i needed the owner or manager of the dealership right here (Not big dealership, however with “good” reputation). Owner and shop mechanics inspect the car with me being there, they diagnose it as a rod failure.

As pissed as i was with the whole situation, owners were pretty straightforward with everything. However, they don’t wanna pay for the damage but they don’t want me to pay for it either.
They told me that they were going to call the “warranty company” which is secure one and have an inspector check the car out and see if they are able to do it under warranty. Still waiting on their answer, in the meantime they gave me a 2016 GTi (Not a big fan, still nice decent car).

Car in the matter is a 135i E88, 74k Miles. As the carfax states, the car was at the BMW dealership each 3 months, either for general checkup on the car, oil changes or battery replacement(This is why i paid way more for it) Other than that, no gaskets were changed, nor big maintenance done to it, however, valve cover gasket was not leaking and car was not showing any signs of oil leaks.
Prior to bring in the car to them, i had it inspected when the missfire started, it showed boost leak due to the plastic chargepipe which i already ordered and missfire on cyl 3-5-6. Coils and spark plugs were changed by them.
No bad HPFP signs. Car started up right away, no weird idling and no issues other than the missfire which was gone after plugs and coils were changed. Seems pretty weird to me that an n55 engine goes bad because of a rod at 74k miles, i did not even got to drive the car for a whole day, pretty frustrated with the whole situation. Bad news is the dealership got the payment from the bank, money is already in their pocket. Don’t know what to do other than wait for them to give me an update on the case. Coming from an e36 328i convertible, i was familiar with the BMW ownership and their issues, but not an engine failure this soon.
Hope to get everything sorted out the best way possible. Keeping you posted, i am pretty open to opinions and suggestion from the Pro’s here so feel free to leave any comments! Thank you folks.

Car was missfiring as soon as i left the dealership, was back in there 2 days after that an another 4 days after that. Crazy, but true. Hopefully they change the engine, not mad if they put a low mileage n55 in there. Fingers crossed they will not turn their back on me

Nope, other than regularly done oil changes and general vehicle checks, not any major things done to it. Car is a 2011 E88, i can forward you the carfax via PM if u are interested in digging a little bit more in the matter. Thank you for your reply and the interest in the subject brother.
