MY06 E87 lighting issues - automatic headlights not turning off, external globe error

I'm having some lighting issues on my MY06 BMW E87 130i Sport, not sure if there is a connection between them all?

* Light switch on Automatic mode and the headlights are always on - bright sunny day and it's still automatically turning the headlights on. I'd assume that there is a sensor that detects the outside light somewhere? Where is this located so I can check it's clean and clear? Perhaps it's failed and stuck on detecting dark...

* Day time running lights are turned on on the instrument cluster settings, but there is nothing illuminating at the front of the vehicle.

* Bulb of exterior lighting system failed Check fault error message. I've checked park lights/halos, low beam, high beam, indicators/hazards, stop and tail lights, and reverse lights - all work fine. Read fault codes with BimmerLink and no errors listed. I note that the low beam, high beam and rear fog lights have their own different Check fault which reduces the possibilities.

* Drivers side Halo light is very faint. Perhaps an opportunity to upgrade them? What the recommended replacement brand?

(yes, the headlights need a wet and dry sand and polish)
