What do you 1er owners think of your manual seats?

If you have a new 1 series with manual seats, what do you think of them. I am thinking of adding the power seats, but if they aren't worth it I won't. Give me the thingsu like and dislike about 'em.

Thanks!!:headbang:

I have a 328i coupe with manual sport seats that I received 2 days ago. I like the manual better than the power seats because they have all the adjustments of the power seats and you can pull them forward for access to the rear seats much quicker than the power seats. The manual seats also have a mechanical memory feature for when you slide them forward for back seat entry. The only advantage I saw of the power seats were the 2 position memory function for 2 seperate drivers. Otherwise I felt that the power seats were slower and more likely to fail at a later date.

Hi,
Here's a question. If you are sitting in the back seat behind an empty front passenger seat, can you reach a lever from the back seat to move the front seat forward so you can get out without aid? Thanks.

Yes, it is quite easy but different than most cars. It is very easy to reach the lever at the top corner of the seat and pull it up and then just push the seat forward. The lever is the same lever you use to pull the seat forward while standing outside the car and pushing the front seat forward. Since the lever is on the back upper corner of the seat back it is easy to reach the lever if you are a back seat occupant. My car is the 328i coupe with sport seats which is the same as the 1 series sport seats. These are the best manual seats I have ever used with loads of adjustment and they slide forward for rear seat entry much faster than the power seats.

I sat in a 135i sport and loved the manual seats. If I had EXTRA $$$ to blow I would get power seats, but IMO its not needed at all.

The only reason I would get the power seats is if more than one person regularly drives the car.

Everyone knows BMW offers power seats, it's just a matter of if people want to over price the car or not. Let's face it, if you're going to pay the extra $ for power seats, why not pay the extra $ and get a 3 series?

I must be a real loser, I wish it came with manual windows and had the cloth seating option as well. Who cares what anyone else thinks.

Dude. Don't you know that the true measure of a sports car is how many servo motors it has? Jeez.

On a similar topic, this is like people saying it's embarrassing to have a bimmer with leatherette. I'm a die-hard meat eater, and yet I still sometimes find it odd that a high-tech piece of machinery would have dead animal skin inside it. Huh.

haha, some comments blow my mind. Do you really think it would be embarrassing to drive a sweet sports coupe because it didn't have power seats? I guess you would have been really embarrassed by the 79 Volvo wagon I drove while working my way though College and pilot training.

Is it kind of "embarrising" that you can't spell EMBARRASSING?

I love my manual seats! I'm not embarrassed and don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks. However I do find it amusing that the 335i comes with logic 7 and power seats standard. Then again we get the cool body kit and 18" wheels standard. One less part to malfunction in the future. I find that the manual seats are very easy to operate and have no regrets in not getting the power option!

I never move my seats because I never have more than one passenger in the car so for me, the manual seats are perfect.

i had issues with them till my father in law discovered the tilt ...now i love them
and me and my wife have similar leg lengths (i have short legs and long torso and she is leggy 8) as hell)

so all that needs to be adjusted is the seat moving back

i dont think i would have sprung for just power seats.... if i could have waited 6 months or a year i would have added premium and done ED

but to anwser your question...yes i am happy with the manual seats

oh and a pic from pauluk car with the btn for bolster adjustment which is amazing

I have the manual sport seats in my 135i ... I like them ... my other cars have had power seats and I don't really think I'll miss them ....

they aren't power seats but they have a button for bolster control...what does that do exactly? Is it like lumbar or something?

No, this button adjusts the upper side bolsters. In essence, you can adjust how tight you like to have them.

For lumbar support you need to get the power sport seats. I ended up ordering the power seats so that I get the auto-tilting passenger side mirror as well as lumbar support.

Otherwise I would have ordered manual sport seats without hesitation. As others have noted they offer exactly the same range and adjustments.

In terms of feeling like a lesser human being because your 1 doesn't have power seats, most Porsche Caymans have manual seats (I'd say around 80%)...

In a coupe I'd prefer manual seats to power seats. In no way worth the money IMO.
