My Retrofit Nightmare

I debated on if I should post this or not, but since Bav Group is making my life miserable, and since they claimed my dispute is invalid, let me show you the kind of work they are defending since it is not refund worthy. I’ll post more details later on but initially they claimed about 10 days maybe less. Here we are several months later, even after sending them the lights a second time to fix, with an absolute mess.

These are the quality of headlights Bav Group will ship you, then they will act like you are wrong for being upset. I hope they see this and chime in on how these are wonderful headlights so you guys can judge for yourselves. My biggest regret in a lifetime of car ownership was sending my lights to these guys.

What is your favorite part about their lights? The red 3m tape visible, the chunks of double sided tape flopping around inside, the snapped clips replaced with a wood screw, or the fact that they fill up with moisture and get soaking wet like a fish tank inside?

I’m hoping to get some attention on this one, I’m basically SOL because they debated my dispute with the bank. Now I’m out $2200 on soaking wet headlights hacked together by their “apprentice” (per their excuses) and they won’t refund me.

Pics wouldn’t upload for some reason so here’s a small chunk of the pics I’ve taken. I should mention that not only is my money tied up, they totally ruined my OEM lights in this process. Now I have leaky mangled set of headlights, and I’m out the money.

If anyone wants to sell me a fair priced set of headlights, I’m going to buy new ones to send to OSS, which I should have done in the first place.

Totally unacceptable, as you know. One doesn't have to be even a tiny bit picky to realize that.

How much time have you spent with the credit card company / bank? It's hard to believe that they won't side with you.

It’s been 30 days roughly with the bank. Just today I got a message that Bav group has claimed my dispute is invalid. I want everyone to see what they want their brand associated with rather than making things right for me.

I was VERY cooperative with their excuses “oh I was in Japan you know how it is” then I finally get this mess. At that point I should have opened a dispute immediately, but I contacted them and paid to have the lights removed and shipped them back to let their “expert” builder do it since they admitted their “apprentice” is the one who butchered my lights their first try. The pics with it soaking wet are from the last few days after the “expert” “fixed” them.

This is a lot of money to be tied up and to be without headlights for the bulk of the season. I shouldn’t have to be fighting them like this, so I want everyone to see what their brand is worth. I gave them more than enough chances to handle this, I’m frustrated and stressed.

I’ve spoken with OSS and they seem awesome, but my headlights are now mangled. I’ll have to get a new donor set and pay for another retrofit. This is crazy to me. Open to any suggestions to help speed this up but I seem to be at the mercy of the bank. I’m going to stop by the local branch and see if they can escalate anything, but I know they will likely say I have to keep working with the dispute team. This has sidelined my car for a huge chunk of the season.

Let's hope you do better with your bank than I am doing with Citi. Disputed charges in July, 2023. Only response I get is after I contact them again and they say they are working on it, but it is always the same auto generated email.

Is this also for Bav Group or just an unrelated dispute?

Sorry to see photos like this. I've been hesitant to do anything with my factory lights for fears of this kind of thing.

Hope it works out. You'll still be out the cost of your factory lights even if you manage to dispute the cost of "work" done by BavGruppe.

Exactly. This is a serious lose situation unless the bank sides in my favor in which case I’m still going to need a core set of lights to fix this level of damage, and then I have to send them out to someone more competent to fix.

Might honestly be worth using Google to ping forums where they do business and carpet bombing reviews everywhere with these photos.

Hurt them by poisoning future business. Won't help your financials but sure would make me feel better.

Who is your bank? I ask because I'm with PNC for much of my banking and use their credit card for many of my online transactions. I've had charges show up that were not mine and they were no hassle in removing the charges. I also reached a specific customer profile where I have a relationship manager. Her responsibility is to keep me as a happy customer. I would not hesitate to reach out to her if I had this kind of issue in disputing a charge. When I was refinancing my house before interest rates shot up, the mortgage side of PNC with my HELOC was f'ing things up with my closing with the primary mortgage. I placed an angry call to my relationship manager and the next day, the issues in their mortgage group miraculously disappeared.

Chase bank, I’ll have to go talk to them too and see how I can expidite this. Bav Group had the balls to call this “cleanly modified headlights” and say I got what I paid for in their latest response to the bank.

You’d think they’d have refunded me to hide this botched job, but here we are. So I’m making sure everyone knows what they consider “clean” work before anyone else gets screwed.

Today's reminder of what Bav Group is defending as "clean and quality" headlights.

Post it everywhere brother. Find their sale threads too. Unacceptable.

If it's uncomfortable enough they'll refund you.
