Dash coating peeling fix?

Hey all,

My 1er has been showing some signs of wear, and I finally have some time to fix it up. My main concern right now is the coating on the lower half of the dash peeling from wear. My question is- has anyone ever repaired this? If so, what did you use? Colorbond LVP? Duplicolor vinyl & fabric coating? Colorbond has OEM colors so it would match better than the Duplicolor from what I've gathered. I've seen people paint their perfectly good dashes using both of these options, but couldn't find much regarding repairing/replacing the factory coating, and I'm not buying a new piece considering they are now $500/ea. The issue is focused on the lower right half of the dash, including the glovebox... To buy replacement parts I'd be looking at over $1k, so I'm looking for the cheaper solution here. I have some experience with automotive painting, so it doesn't seem like it would be too hard, I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with this before I give it a shot. My idea is to remove the panels, remove as much of the factory coating as I can using some scrubbing pads, prep then paint. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
