European Headlight Pictures

Here are pictures of the finished European headlight swap on a Canadian 135i.

Here's a link to the installation instructions (DIY).

Yup, I agree, except they were more than 2 grand... Not to mention a huge pain in the ass to install. Would I do it again? Unlikely although I am happy with the result... Amber reflectors were almost unbearable for me.

Question

I also have the European headlights on my car in the USA

My question is about the lighting - the US cars have the blinker bulb turned on to a dim setting with the headlights on

The Euro cars do not have this - how can I turn off the dim blinker so that it only illuminates when blinking?

Thanks

Anthony

The difference visible to the eye are amber reflectors. These are required in North America. Canada has an exemption which allows Euro headlights sans amber reflectors, but all BMW's come with Amber in Canada. Non amber are not legal in the USA at all. Some people hate amber so much, they put cheap looking covers on them to make them go away.

The amber reflectors don't have to be on the headlight (eg - E92, new E90) but no one bothers to put a new one on after taking the one on the headlights off...lol

Wow.. those look nice but for that money I cld buy a jb3 and still have a bunch of cash leftover for other mods... I wld put 2 grand under the hood before I spent that kind of coin on getting rid of those hideous amber reflectors..

Yes - you are right - the previous picture show a red circle where one could be mounted. But I don't think anyone is into doing that. Although no amber is not legal, does anyone know what the fine, if any would be?

those look nice but there's no way I'd pay $2K for those things. hell, I wouldn't even pay half that. I just don't see what the big deal is by not having the amber color on the lights.

opinions vary I guess......
