225/40 255/35 that don't rub?

I have a stock 09 135i coupe. Looking for summer tires and been reading bunch of threads about up-gauging to 225/40 and 255/35. Seems like some rears in that size rub - mainly Michelins which have a wider build.

Any recommendations with confirmed non rubbing figment. Car is a daily but gets auto crossed on summer tires 6-8 times a year.

what wheels do you have on the car? size/offset? any suspension mods? any interest in 200tw tires for autox or sticking with summer performance tires?

I've seen lots of people on this forum say they are running 225/40 front and 255/35 rear on style 264's with no issues. I saw one post out of the 10+ mention some slight rubbing so YMMV.

I would be looking into Michelin PS4S or the Continental ECS02. If you're trying to save some dough then you can find good deals on closeout FireHawk Indy 500's since the new tire just came out, General G-Max RS is pretty much a budget ECS02 (owned by same company), or the Kumho Ecsta Sport.

I'm running PS4S in 225/255, stock m sport suspension, stock 261M wheels, no rubbing whatsoever. Plenty of clearance.

Ditto, if you're on stock wheels you can go to 225 fronts no problem. That's critical since so few tires are available in 215 width. I've run both 245 and 255 on the back, no issues either way. Michelin ps4s, my current Conti AWS, and another non-run flat that I forget so far, can confirm no issues with any of those. I expect any rubbing or other issues is unlikely with such a small bump up.

This seems to be a topic that has been addressed over & over. Went to 313s with 225/255 Conti DW (not DWS) from the stock 17" RFT. No rubbing ever on my '08 135i E88. Only real issue was only got 12,500 out of rears. But then that could be because the Dinan S3 tune was fun to use.

They'll fit. Lots of variation in space car to car in the rear since these cars weren't completely robot built but hand finished. May need a small spacer or roll fenders, will have to see.
