Service Engine Soon light on
OK, at 1800 miles on my new '09 BMW 135i my service engine light just came on. I was told by the dealer rep that this is standard after the "break-in" period and that the fault just needs to be reset. This sounds fishy to me. Has it happened to anyone else out there? Also over the last 2 weeks, sometimes it takes up to 5 seconds after pushing the start button for the engine to fire up. Do you think my HPFP may be going? I thought this had been corrected in the '09 models. Any thoughts out there?

Now my light is off!
My Service Engine Soon light was on for a day now it magically turned off. What gives here? I thought once a fault occurs, the computer remembers it and it has to be reset. Is this true?

This is true on certain faults, such as an O2 sensor failing a self test, or a misfire. Some of them latch in though. Either way, the code is still stored even if the light goes out, so they can still see something was going on. |
