You are retired, what did you do today?

Bought SpaceX stock, grocery shopping with the wife, washed the BMW, pizza, & salad for dinner.

Babysat the grandkids, took them to WINCO & Costco & watched Sleeping Beauty with my shadow, aka granddaughter, while our grandson napped. After Dad came to pick them up, I reinstalled the rear spoiler on my G30 540i.

Water skied this morning, and got home at 11:15am. Cleaned up my act. Then, took my wife for a ride and lunch in my old Corvette. Lounging on the couch at the moment.

Much the same on a week day, but add in an hour or two managing investments.

Pre-grandkids my newly-retired schedule was Let's Make a Deal at 0900, The Price is Right at 1000, 1st nap at 1100, lunch around noon, second nap around 1400, Adam-12 at 1500, M*A*S*H at 1600 and then fart-around until dinner. Bedtime was around 2130 when I watched an hour or so of YouTube.

I started a project a couple of months after I retired that would normally take me a weekend to finish... took me FOUR MONTHS!!!!!

The two main things I wanted to do when I retired almost 14 years ago was clean out my garage & desk. Not only have I not accomplished those two things, I could swear their in worse condition!

We had ISDN when I worked at our local university way back when.
I’m happy to report that I’m still involved with ISDN.

I learned in the Navy that if I walk around with a clipboard and pencil (and occasionally write something), no one would question what I was doing.

Now you got me going. 😂

I was based in Germany in 1968. Army. One day, we got a new motorpool
officer; the most dangerous (or annoying, take your pick) kind. He was a
brand new butter-bar (2nd Lt.) on his first assignment. My buddy and I
spotted him waaaaay down at the far end of our row of vehicles… with a
clip board. We watched.

Shit, here comes. He’s getting closer (we’re the last vehicle in the row,
a jeep). My buddy is starting to pace a bit. He failed to renew his
International driver’s license, so the Jeep has been assigned to me. He’s
showing me the ropes. He also doesn’t give a shit because he’s short.
He’s also a soul brother. A soul brother with a great sense of humor.

Finally, the Butter-bar approaches. We come to attention and salute.
“At ease,” says the Butter-bar. He slowly circles the vehicle, taking notes.
Then he stops, looks straight at soul brother and says, “Soldier, why is
the spare tire flat?”

Soldier, “Because it has a hole in it.”

Butter-bar leaves without saying a word. Soldier throws his hat on the
drivers seat and says, “Shiiiiiiiiiit.”

We had an newly commissioned pimply-faced Ensign assigned to the ship. His first job was head of the engine room. The chief machinist mate was a Senior Chief (E-8) and after a week or so had had enough of this Ensign telling him how to run HIS engine room. The Chief marched up to the Captain (who was a senior Captain just getting his time-in-type before being eligible for the flag ranks) and basically read the Captain the riot act and said if he didn't get that snot-nosed, pimply-faced out of HIS engine room he was going to quit. The Captain, knowing a thing or three, told the Chief he would take care of it. The Ensign was banned from the engine room after that! Took some time for that Ensign to realize that his college degree didn't trump the experience of the NCO's!

Dug out two 5ft tall Bayberry Bushes (the bush of a million thorns) that have been in the ground for about 30 years. I only bled a little, but likely to have splinters to pull out for weeks.

Good times.
