not to threadjack, but i think mine has a short in it that causes the drivers' side speakers to not work unless you jiggle the cable... you didn't have the same problem by chance?

My problem isn't limited to the driver's side speaker - it occurs in any of them seemingly randomly. The sound also crackles if I move the iPod or bend or even pinch the cable between my fingers. The dealership thinks it is a problem with the stereo and not the cable (they tried another cable and the problem persisted - although it was another new cable so there is no guarantee that the new one worked properly) but it is going in tomorrow so hopefully I'll have a solution soon.

If i remember correctly I just searched under bmw ipod cable. The listing posted it as bmw ipod Y cable. Plugs into the ipod then has a connection for both the usb and aux jack on the other end. I think he had a few of them for sale 25.00 plus shipping which only took a couple of days : )

The cable that came with my car only had a plug for the usb on the other end. Which would be fine if the new ipod touch would work in my car, im having to use the aux port so i can at least use it until i figure out the problem. That was my reason for the purchase. My old nano works perfect through the usb port (all my ipod info comes up on my radio). My car wont recognize my ipod touch at all through the usb???? In the meantime i can at least hear the music through the aux port. For now, when i wanna find a song etc.. I have to do it off the ipod itself, which is a huge pain in the ass

Thats the exact cable i have. Im not sure of the part # if there was one on the cable i didnt see it. Im going to take it to the dealer tomorrow and try to get the car to recognize the info coming through the usb. I searched the forums and a few people are having the same issue with the ipod touch.

Rearro - I'm in Western Australia - not Washington (the "other" WA) so I don't think my dealer will be able to help you but they did help me. It turned out to be a faulty interface between the y-cable and the car which took a couple of days to find and replace the part and so far (almost a week) all of the faults have been corrected.

Sorry to bump a super old thread, but my 135i is a 2011 and I'm bringing it into service for this same "missing channel when the cable is moved by normal driving conditions" problem
