Swapping colored door inserts for black?
It's a hypothetical at the moment as my car hasn't even been built yet, but has anyone swapped their door inserts for a different color? I am getting coral read interior and have always thought that the door panel pieces looked a little out of place in pictures. I will probably change my mind when I see the car and leave it as is but I figured I'd see if anyone had done it. I was thinking of switching to black inserts, leaving only the seats red.
Also, does anyone know how much they would cost from a dealer? My guess is a leg... |

It would be a lot cheaper if you were to trade with someone who owned a sedona red 1er with black interior, someone like... ME!
would you be interested in a swap? If so i'm sure i can pull the pieces out as long as nothing is glued |

You might consider having the door panels dyed by professionals.
I knew the second I opened the door of my arctic white 135i that ivory leather was a mistake and wished the interior was all black. Last week on a recommendation I visited the upholstery shop for the local Ferrari and Jaguar dealers. The past few years they've done a lot of color changes from light to dark. My 135i will take three days and cost $1000. They'll pull the seats out and airbrush them on a bench. The doors will get done on the car. When I asked about matching the surrounding black they said black is pretty much black, there should be no problem. When I asked about durability, they said leather from the factory is top-coated, too, and the stuff they use is almost as good. I'll post before and after pictures when it's done. By the way I realize thay my color preference is entirely arbitrary. |
