I am curious, where are most of the E9x M3 in the Northern VA area serviced?

I go to FFX since its location, location, location! service isnt too bad to bitch about.
Since Arlington BMW moving to Picket Rumour is around.. I can only guess if they get competitive they may capture some of the VA customer going to Passport since its on the beltway way twds Wilson Bridge plus the Metro is close by for drop off and pickup. hmmm

Thanks everyone!
If anything, this should help us see which shop has the most hands-on experience with the new E9x M3. I hope that experience would translate into little things like putting the oil fill cap on correctly and avoiding a major mess, etc. Keep the votes coming! |

I go to Fairfax also, your SA is another big factor, my SA is Donald Marsh, real cool dude and str8 forward, lets you get away with mods here and there.

My experiences at Sterling have not been good. The SA and service manager are OK, but the technicians are questionable. I do not think I will take my car there again. Baarri, who is your SA? |

I deal with Jim Eddy, who was your SA? I had a slight issue with one of the techs back in the days but Jim took care of it!

i know this question is posed towards M3s, and i have always taken my M3 to BMW of FFX.
But would you all still recommend BMW of FFX to service e60 M5s ?

I think if you were/are happy with the service they gave to for your E46 M3 you should be fine! If it comforts you at all my 2 friends, one has a m5 and one with a m6 go to ffx bmw. |

Thanks for the input Baarii,
BMW of FFX has been good to me. i was just curious if anyone had any opinions that perhaps there were better/expierenced mechanics at BMW of FFX or elsewhere. No matter though, doesn't hurt for asking

Nothing as far as I'm concerned though I don't use them. I bought an E46 M3 from them and they were great. Even helped me out no charge when I had trouble doing a bulb change on my running lights. Additionally, they were just named again in the top tier nationally of all BMW dealers. I did hear that the owner is an a-hole though and got a bit pompous and BMW took away his exclusive Mini dealership. I hate Passport, but they got the nod for a Mini franchise. I hear Sterling has lost 50% of their Mini sales. I wasn't impressed with my service experience at Passport but that was prior to the new service facility. They managed to piss me off too when they did the active steering recall on my '06 650 and failed to do any of the nice things (fill up the tank) that BMW was going to pay for. Why do I think they billed BMW away... They also used to have this giant line of cars in the morning for service and this was people with appts. For basic service like a oil or tire change I just drive in to Fairfax and I'm set in an hour or so. I just picked up a 2011 M3 and having alarm problems. We'll see how they do on that.
I had purchased a car from Fairfax as they had what I wanted ('07 650 vert) and I had sold my old car on the spur of the moment. The sales experience was great and I have nothing but praise for the service department. They are fast and super squared away. I think the service department generates more sales than the sales department. I can't trash Arlington's service department because their sales department sucks so badly I haven't even dreamed of bringing my car there -- and I live less than 4 miles away. I did read a nice letter in the latest Roundel though where a young lady got her wheels stolen in that giant blizzard we had last winter. Arlington really came to her rescue when others did not. A good sign and credit where credit is due. Last edited by BigHat; 04-15-2010 at 02:38 PM.. |

Sterling is just inconvenient for me.. but the 2x times I went, they disappointed me.
First, a e39 M5 PPI, told me it was ready. I paid and took awhile to find it, no one seems to know its location. I even doubted they performed a PPi Second, told me they would cover my 2 day rental, 6 months after, they slipped a day rental charge on my CC, thinking I wouldnt noticed it. I challenge it, and the SA that said earlier that they would cover it, he suddenly had a bad case of Amnesia. What can i say.. but seems like I hear good comments from clients that live close by their facility. Maybe they just take care of their local customers, since it would be their main source of revenue, dealers do that sometimes. Fairfax been good to me.. Arlington BMW, Is that in Va or DC ?
