Anyone heard or have clips of N55 with Performance Exhaust?
My 2011 N55 I've ordered will be getting the performance exhaust installed upon arrival. After hearing some of these clips of the N55 stock exhaust, I'm starting to question if the PE is necessary. Any first hand observations or clips known?

According to this thread, there isnt a PE for the N55: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=384863
So I dont know. I do know, however, that just the golftee mod alone makes the N55 exhaust note sound incredible. I've recorded some sounds yesterday and today, and am just waiting for the Autobahn to clear up so I can hit a local tunnel to capture the final clips. I will then put them all together and load them up on YouTube. |

I'm pretty sure that the Perf exhaust is not out yet for the N55 and it is different to the one for the N54.

Hmm. It's listed on BMW's Performance Accessory website specifically for the 2011s. My car won't be arriving for another 6 weeks or so, but I've already ordered it to be installed upon arrival. Yeah, I'd love to hear those clips.

Well, now things get more interesting. Can you comment on the sound of it? How does it sound versus a stock 2011 or a 2010 with PE? Any chance of posting a clip? Thanks.

I've only heard 2010 /w PE online, but I would say the sound is quite similar. Raspy and loud as hell on start up. I do have some drone from 1.5 to 2.5k though, which I'm going to have the dealer take a look at. However, I want to know if they are planning a redesigned exhaust for the n55? If so, my dealer pretty much lied to me. |

Well, from the info in the thread Sylon posted, the exhausts are completely different, therefore I would assume the PE would be different as well.

This is just a theory, but what if both stock exhaust systems work with both engines? What if the exhaust components are the reasons why they sound different, and not so much the engines themselves (well to a certain degree).
What if the stock exhaust on the 2011 models fit the N54 models? |
