Removing BMW logo from trunk
Since there aren't that many 1s around my town, I see people walking around my car all of the time trying to figure out what the hell it is...
So, I've removed the 135i emblem...wondering if anyone has removed the BMW logo from the back. I don't really care that it is a BMW, it's just a car to me (let's not forget there are 5 other logos on the exterior of the car) and I like the fact that it isn't an easily recognizable BMW. If anyone has done it, could you please post a pic? Or...you photoshop gurus... |

I wouldn't recommend it, since there's an unpainted "hole" where the roundel used to be, and I think a couple of screw holes.
However, some people replace it with a different roundel badge, like one from Hartge / AC Schnitzer / other aftermarket manufacturers (only if you have those parts for good taste!) Otherwise, pop the roundel and maybe paint over it? I dunno man, since there's definitely indents under the front and rear roundels

The clean way would be to totally delete it, putty, sands, repaint. Do you really want to do that to a trunk in good condition? The badge, no problems with that, but the BMW logo, it's part of the design. If you remove it something will always look off, not counting the loss of value on the car.

You guys are right, it would be too much work to do it properly and hardly worth it. Also, there would be some depreciation due to paint. Oh well, I still love the car...now if I could only wash it!

Not the "135i" i took that off completely. Don't want it. But yeah I'm looking for a replacement for the BMW logos on the back/front. example or Neither are really perfect but yeah.. Last edited by fatjoez; 07-03-2010 at 04:03 PM.. |

Problem is that BMW changed the shape of the piece to where none of the off the shelf replacements fit correctly - they don't follow the trunk profile.
