It's a smaller track, supposed to be similar to driving on mountain roads.

actually Horse Thief is really fun
though I liked the big track much better it's a great time

I did the Horsethief in an E36 M3
Track days are always fun but this is my least favorite SoCal track. I felt that one of the later off-camber left turns could flip you over into on-coming traffic if you were over-zealous. In speaking with the organizers they said to be careful. If you drive sensibly to learn car control and have fun then you'll be fine.
I've done many (most?) of the SoCal tracks with my share of off-track experiences and I never felt particularly unsafe - Horse Thief is the only place where my self-preservation meter pre-empted my fun and safety meters. I'm much more cautious than I was in my younger days (kids, mortgage) so that may also color my experience. Have fun and be safe if you go! |
