aFe Dual cone? Why nobody using?
Why do I see very few using the aFe dual cone intake? They claim 27hp/34tq to the wheels yet every other intake seems to claim 15hp/15tq at the very most.
Is their numbers a complete lie? Do their parts cause damage? Why do I hear/see so little of their dual cone intake? |

cause DCI's dont work unless you are out on the drag strip.

27hp/34tq atw HAHA keep dreaming. DCIs have been proven to make a negligible difference in performance (sometimes even lose hp) unless you're doing power runs down the drag strip with a lot of cooling down in between.
They do however reduce the waste gate duty cycle which means your turbos have to work less and provide a cool sound That's enough to keep mine in

I have one. I love it. Based on my JB4 results, it's keeping the intake air temperatures consistently lower by a few degrees than the BMS DCI did.

I have it..
I also have BMS DCI, SCI, and Riss Racing intake lol... Intakes in general don't produce great gains.... usually they are good for a bit better response, looks, better turbo spoiling sound and bragging rights haha.. |

Why do they clearly state those gains if intakes gain almost nothing.... Someone should buy it, and sue them for false advertising and make mass$$$ |

I am not used to huge stretches of the imagination on "reported gains" by vendors in the Evo world. What you see is what you get most of the time. Obviously cars respond differently but normally companies reported average gains, not miracle gains.
Even JB3 advertises 80whp/80tq blatantly but after emailing Terry he says JB3 AND DCI will only yeild around 70whp/70tq -- pretty blatant lie IMHO, not impressed thus far (not that im not impressed with performance gains) but with the amount of talk-up many parts I have came across seem to have thus far. However you might want to look at AFE's new closed box intake.. which has 1 large intake and supposively it doesn't have heat soak problems because it is enclosed in a box lol... |

If I got AFE DCI I would enclose the top myself with some sort of custom made top for the box it's already in. But if people are saying it's really that bad, obviously I would rather go with a cheaper solution.

I have the AFE Stage 1 and I like it. I have not had any heat soak issues and I have definitely felt an increase in power, maybe not as much as they claim but a noticeable difference, plus the sound is intoxicating.

aFe seemed to be getting way ahead of themselves by putting such high numbers out there to the consumer. InJen, for example, put out pretty conservative numbers for both N54 and N55 intakes.

waste of money, intake won't add any power, if you want the sound just go with dci

Unless you're running high boost levels there's no need to switch from stock airbox.

I've got it and like it. Looks alot better than plain DCI's. About to be running 16-17psi and meth so pretty sure it the intake will help

I just bought the AFE DCI's and replacing my BMS ones. They are shit. And the only reason I'm switching them out is to lower my intake temps. I proabaly wont make anymore power then I am now, But if I run cooler, I'm happy.
