Runflat karma???

So after 21,000 km's my runflat RE050A's are down to <2mm tread. Ordered some non-runflat Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's from tirerack last week and they're due to arrive on Thursday.

Also order a can of slime, not thinking I'd ever need it.

Fire up the car today and see this:

I thought maybe the tyre pressure wasn't reset during my recent service... got to my destination (only 1km away) and visually checked the tyres, all seemed fine. But when I got home and checked with a pressure meter I found the rear right didn't move the needle at all... and then I saw:

:

Thanks to runflat technology I can safely make all the trips required this week and have my new tyres fitted Saturday (due to arrive thurs) with no disruption at all. Oh the irony...

The max distance is 150km for runflats IIRC. Still recommended to not drive on them.

At least you got to actually use the technology

good luck finding someone to plug your run flat!

I had the same issue.. got a nail in it and bye bye! AND i had to save my $$ for a month (i had 2 rego's insurance and all sorts of shit to pay at the time) and i drove on my runflats the whole time pumping up the pressure everyday.

Keep driving on it just keep the pressure up. Dont worry about a thing TRUST ME

lol alex... i was gonna have the new tyres fitted anyway, i just didn't expect to be FORCED to at exactly the same time. (jeef: the runflat faq says 80km @ 80kph... probably more than 80km at slower speeds?)

blackonblack: yep will just pump up the tyre before each trip, the car actually feels totally fine! except it wants to power oversteer a lot more especially in this rainy weather...

i just ordered my slime yay... and feel free to drive the speed limits (highways included!)

Mate of mine works at a tyre shop, he said you can 'plug' a goodyear but not allowed to do a bridgestone run flat.

dont know whats up with that!

Had my front right RFT plugged at 4000km in roughly the same position. Worked perfectly.

Jax Artarmon did mine. It was about 50mm from the shoulder between tread slots and they did it in about 15 mins. Too easy

If it is just plugs which you are after, then any motorcycle shop has them, else http://slime.com.au/index.php?main_p...products_id=27
Why did I leave research until after I ordered the slime??

To install the slime I need a valve core removal tool. Then I can use the slime which is a temporary fix until I get home. Then I use the cement, plugs, reamer and plug tool to permanently fix the tyre.

So if I want to use plugs, I need to buy a jack too. (Maybe also a wrench? Can't remember if there's one in the boot). But if I only want a temp fix (and have the tyre repaired professionally) then I need to buy at least a valve core removal tool.

Latter sounds good to me for now. Did you get a jack as well?

If you call them and ask they will say no! If you go there and talk to the guy and he susses out you're a genuine owner, they will repair a runflat. Apparently.
