Which Downpipes?
Which Down Pipes to choose from?
I see prices from 579$ to 800$ and as far as i know , they are all 3inch and bolt on... What is the main difference, and which one do you guys recommend? |

Anyone see good performance gains from aftermarket catted downpipes?
I replaced my midpipes with CP-e catless and the car is backfiring now...I don't think I want it any louder...hah! |

16 months ago I did a dyno run with JB+ set to 100% (about 11 psi) with stock DP. Then after installing the AR design catted DP, we did another dyno run. Same day. Pretty much same temperature. The difference was over 20 hp.
Now, I have the JB4 and regularly hit 13-14 psi during WOT on the auto tune map. I would guess the gain versus a stock DP is probably even higher than 20 hp.

Quality of the fabrication and, more importantly, FITMENT is a huge issue and difference between manufacturers. I can guarantee you that you'll be happy with the AR design pipes, not sure about everything else.

The AR Design downpipes are definitely one of the more popular systems and for good reason. It was the first 3" system that was introduced to the community and the quality and fitment of these hand crafted pieces speak for itself. The AR Downpipes will give your N54 an exotic and aggressive exhaust note as well as a significant boost in horsepower. These downpipes also virtually eliminate turbo lag, and will make your car's engine even more responsive. We do keep both the AR design Catted and Catless setups in-stock here as well without the typical 4 week lead time. Feel free to drop me a PM if you guys have any further questions!

I'm sure you'll see gains with catted setups, as a low-cell count will allow the exhaust gases to flow more freely.. but with the added expense over catless designs, and the fact that some of the catted designs still throw codes... it makes more sense to go with the cheaper and more power yielding catless setups.

Depends on how your state performs them.. if they do a 'sniffer' test, then you'll have to switch back to the stock downpipes for the inspection. If they just look for codes, then make sure you're running an O2 sim or have stage 2 software that should keep the codes from coming up.

Just read up a DIY on how to change the DP's, does it require alignment?!?! it messes with removing the steering rack. |

Both our catted and catless downpipes offer nice gains. We recommend catless unless customer needs to pass emissions. **********s usually has them in stock!
