1M transport
Hey gang, I am new to the forum, pretty excited about getting my 1M from the dealership. It is located up north and I am concerned about the tires with winter roads, no snow expected in the next three days, but it will be cold, distance is a 1000 miles to my house. What do you think, ship it or drive it home and if I ship it does anyone know a good transport company? Thanks, I cant believe I am finally getting my 1 M.

" up north" is a relative term.... and without your actual location.... means NOTHING to us.
Personally.. if the forecast is clear.... why not drive? Live a little! Then again... I was born " up North"...... in Indiana. As far as the 1000 miles.... that part is your call... many of us had 1000 mile drives home from the delivery dealer... so quite common there.. But the drive home with your car is a great way to get acquainted... Especially if the car is not going to be a daily driver when you get it home. |

One thing I wonder about (and I know tons of you have done it) is being able to vary up the speed enough during the highway drive home to properly break in the car. I personally would rather break it in back home (unless your drive consisted of lots of mountain roads )

Via up north, I mean Chicago. I will take the car southbound through Indiana, then to the mountains of Kentucky and North Carolina and end up in South Carolina. The first part will not be so great, the last part will be fun, bourbon trail in Kentucky is a must. As long as the weather holds. I was mostly concerned with the cold temperatures in Indiana with the tires. I do not want to spin her on the way home because that would make me a dumb ass, lets hope not. . Thanks for the transport suggestions, I will look into them. Glad to be joining in on the forum.

You are not going to be driving in an aggressive manner in a car that you are breaking in. Go get the car and enjoy your private time with your new car. Holly |
