Aftermarket Brake Pads-What works for you?

To those who have changed their stock pads have you found any that work well on both street and track? 3 weeks after I got my car (May 2011) I changed my pads out for Performance Friction 01's and quickly found they just can't be used on the street. Also, they do not have the retainer clips so they tend to chatter as well. My car is in the air and the PF01's are 85% worn. Before I throw the stock pads back on I think I want to try a good pad that is a middle ground street/track pad. Keep in mind my 1M is not my daily driver and a little noise isn't a big deal. Since we share brakes with M3's I figure there may be some M3 guys who have some good feedback.

Tried EBC and they were good. Just had Ferodo pads fitted. Not been on track with them yet but they seem to have a lot more "feel" that the EBC's

BMW has track pads specifically designed for the 1M.

I have used and like Hawk HPS pads on my Subaru STi and get great overall performance on the Road and Track.

Yes those are the same as the Pagid's rs19 wich I have .
Good choice for dual use but they squeeek

Pagid RS29's I have found to be a great pad in the past on my other car running 6 pot alcons, I don't believe they do for our brake set up but the RS19's are available and I found to be just as good with very low disc wear and no problem on the road and great on track.......

After a few searches I found the following links. Ideally I am hoping for someone with a 1M with some track and street time on aftermarket pads that can say, "Pad X is exactly what you are looking for. Here's how they worked for me." I'll probably make a few calls tomorrow. I'm betting the BMW pads are still on the soft side but I have some friends at united parts that can probably give me some feedback.

In case you want to wait past the weekend I will be trying the PFC-06's this weekend at the track. I'm driving there and back so I'll find out if these screech as much as the 01's on the street. The one point I wanted to make was that these pads do have retaining clips. 06's (and 08's) are supposed to last longer than the 01's and be easier on the rotors too. Neil has stated that these pads have been superceded by the 08 pads but I had already bought these.

My guess is that they won't be quiet enough for the street and their cold performance won't be good enough either.

I just love swapping pads.

I have the BMW M Performance Sport Pads and have used them heavily for 4 track days and they are excellent for both road and track use. The pedal feel is much improved with less initial travel and increased firmness compared to the standard pads. They work in subzero temperatures and in torrential rain. The only downside is that they are horrendously noisy, it's like 4 children, one at each corner, screaming every time you touch the brake pedal whilst driving around town. Only way to prevent this is to continuously lay a layer of pad material on the discs or get some anti squeal pad backings. The pads are made by Textar (which are under the same company as Pagid), and are used by the ring taxis.

My other choice would be RS19s and will be the next set after my M Performance Sport Pads.

I really like the Ferodo DS2500s. I'm running a stock 1M. With Motul brake fluid I'm not getting any fade from them at all and they have great stopping power.

The only minor annoyance is that that they don't have the anti rattle clips so they squeal slightly on the street. It's no big deal however and it's not obnoxious. They don't need much heat in them to stop. They DO stop better with some heat, but I think they're a great compromise pad. HP Autoworks sells them I believe.

I don't find the cold performance of the PFC-01 to be horrible, so I doubt the 06 or 08 could be worse.

I am looking for a similar solution, I HATE changing pads.

I have used Carbotech XP8 but found them not good for street use as they are loud, for track use they were ok, only problem - they were to thick initialy.
After reading very good reviews in M3 section and other forums, I have ordered Endless MX72, hopefully this will be a good compromise that doesn`t sqeel like a pig. Should recieve them next week or so.

No, but I ran them for 10 days during the One Lap of America, and slapped them on last night since I'll be spending Fri-Sun at VIR.

From what BimmerWorld just told me the PF 08's don't have retainer clips so they will chatter as well.
