Installed Helix FMIC: Great Product! (PICS)

So I installed my Helix FMIC over the weekend and I am quite pleased. The install was straight forward and no cutting was required as promised. Top notch product.

To anyone looking to upgrade their Front Mount I would highly recommend theirs.

Here are some pictures

I only used ramps, and it took me about 2 hours. Hard part was removing OEM the plastic couples from the turbo side. The rest was a breeze. Also I was running JB4 and felt a small difference. But im getting cobb soon and will be able to run stage 2+ now .

I definitely had to trim a little to make it fit on my 2008 135i, but it really wasn't an issue as it definitely outperforms the stock junk intercooler. Stage 2+ runs pretty good with the required mods.

Well I had HPF FMIC installed before and that was an absolute bitch to install and required some cutting so this one slid right in. I have Catless DPs too so I am really excited for Cobb.

did you have to remove the grille or do you just prefer it without the grille?

When I installed the HPF intercooler some of the clips broke so i had to remove it. I don't mind it without it on though. I will be hard to keep clean though.

Thanks for the photos. With the intercooler installed and grill removed, the 1's beastly character is a lot more revealed to the opposite traffic

Personally, I would put the grills back on though, to keep the stealthy "wolf in sheepskin clothing" look.

It does have a very aggressive look to it. And it doesn't look like a slapped an Ebay FMIC on there lol. Helix makes a top notch product.

I installed my ER intercooler yesterday and definitely feel the difference on Cobb stage 2+. Noticeably above 4.5K. Power doesn't seem to drop off as much.

the visible intercooler looks awesome imo, please let us know if it presents any problems in terms of debris getting in the intercooler, cleaning it, etc. Helix makes some great products..

Its good to know that you could still put the grill on with this fmic! You can really feel a difference just by adding a better fmic? The stage 2 will be awsome!

Looks awesome . I was gonna go with Helix but the AA group buy happened so I went with that. I prefer to leave the grille off, looks better

I was stuck for a while between Helix and Active. Post up some pics once you have it installed.

Big difference. Power doesn't drop off as much. I mean look at the size difference from OEM.

This is what the Active looks like. I think my mechanic kind of half-assed the install so I'm gonna get it checked out from my performance shop in a little..

Sorry to thread jack, OP

Every time I go back to this thread and see those pictures, I kinda have to fight myself to resist taking off the mesh in front of the intercooler to expose my Helix.

Damn you.

Looks good, but it seems to be sitting a little low. It could just be the angle of the pics.

I Love how it looks. Every time I get out of my car I walk around the front to admire my car smiling at me, LOL.

Looks good! Huge fan of the Helix crew. Ralph and Eric were awesome to deal with. I had one of their FMIC's on my 2009 Cooper S. Work of art!
