Blue instrument cluster lights and white face gauges
Finally finished it. making a DIY on it and then i'll start a new thread.
Started talking about this in the Speedo needles thread so i started a new one since i'm not going to replace the needles. i'm going to replace the orange LED's behind the gauges with either blue or white LED's. not sure which one i'm going to go with yet. while i have the gauges off i'm going to put these white faces on them. i got one of the faces back today and figured i'd post a pic of it on here so everyone can tell me how stupid it looks. good thing i like it and its going in my car. i'm putting the M power symbol on the speed and the rpm will say 135i across it. after i get everything put in i'm going to post a whole step by step with pics DIY here. but until then i'm going to keep posting stuff as it comes up. well here's where i'm at so far. This is the one i got back today.

so your gunna cut each little hash mark and all the numbers out so that the LEDs shine through?
thats gunna be fun! also the //M looks like its not the correct shape.....but your overall design is cool |

Your right. The one side of the m is supposed to be strait up and down. Might have to get it re-done now. Or I might leave it. Have to think about it.

Are you going to change over every single other light in the car? If so, this could be really cool. If not, I really suggest reconsidering ('cause I think it'll look terrible).
If you've ever seen a car where a 16yr old kid had a can of spray paint and decided to paint everything he could manage to pull off, and when put back together and looked at as a whole it just looks like crap, you will know what not to do. |

I would like to change over the other lights but most of the other lighting in the car is an LCD screen. There was a thread on here a while ago where someone did do it. Changed all the LCD and led lights to blue. I think it looked nice. If I can figure it out how to do it on my own I might do it. I'm not going to pay someone to do it to my car. Even if I don't do all of them I still think the dials will look nice with blue light. I guess I'll find out wont I.

So I got my other face back today. Didn't work out how I wanted it to. Where I got the 135i made had a different background. So I cut out the numbers and stuck them onto the dial. The 1/min x 1000 could still be seen through the numbers and it looked really stupid. So I put them above it. This is what I came up with. Not sure if i like it or not. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this any better? If your just going to say it looks like crap don't bother. It's not going in your car so don't worry about it. Looking for some ideas to get the look I want. Thanks.

Just order the faces as the finalized product so that digits would be transparent for the dial illumination and they would look normal not like piece of paper.
Also there should be pieces which stick out for speed dial not to spin around like in photo. |

its pretty much a sticker. once placed it doesnt move. the similar way window tint works.

If the LEDs ever get here it will take an afternoon. Wish I could find somewhere that sells blue LSD screens, I'd try to change that too. Saw the thread where someone did that. But got no answer from him. Getting the 135i resized and in blue to see how that looks. Also fixing the m. Should look better.

I did make it smaller. I like the M in there better. It looks alot better now than in those pics. I had the m redone. Check out the other thread of the completed project.
