Whiteline tail lights for e82?
So I'm not sure if anyone has seen the white line tails for the f10 5 series but I think they are pretty amazing looking. Just like the black lines for our car these are an Oem part made by BMW with a part number. While I like the black lines they are a tad bit to dark for my taste and I'd love to have a set of these whiteline tails for the e82 and I think they'd go great with my car being alpine white.
The problem is I can only find them made for the 5 series and no other BMW. This is where I need you guys help and wasn't sure if I should have put this in DIY or cosmetic. I have a second set of lci tails that I could send off to be fabricated possibly with clear lenses or a white led bar, but I wouldn't know the first place to send them. Does anyone have any idea of a company that would possibly be able to perform this kind of fabrication with a stock set of the lcis or some kind of crazy DIY to possibly accomplish this? It's a long shot I know but couldn't hurt to ask I thought. Here is a video demo of the white lines in use on an f10 5 series Last edited by Bmwbreed; 01-19-2013 at 03:28 PM.. |

Your video link doesn't work. Looks like its for mobile units, not computers.

That would be cool also. I just want to know where I can take a set of lights to be fabbed with the clear lenses to see the led bar like this because ours are white on the inside too so I think if I can just get the red lens fabricated in clear it should work. I know there's gotta be a place out there that can do it all the places that make clear corner lenses. Anyone know anywhere?

I think you are right about our inside LED's being white, however I dont think it would be an easy or worthwile job for a manufacturer to try and make us white lines. They would either have to make the lights from scratch, and if they were going for OEM specs, likely cost a lot more as they would not be ordering in the same bulk. Or, they would have to start with OEM's and add their clear outside and seal them, which again would make them cost significantly more than the OEM ones. Hopefully the Whitelines offered for the 5 series are just the beginning of a trend of offerings that will be available for future models. |

Yea I can see where you would think. they definately wouldn't be for everyone just like black lines aren't for me. But usually altezza lights were just clear with huge red circles in the middle for brake lights and all that resembled the car was the shape of the light. These still retain the factory led bars and functions and look nothing like those or that cheap anyway. But that's my opinion. And you have yours which you are certainly entitled too.

With an Alpine White, I definitely see the appeal. I'd love to see this get off the ground, but agree that it's unlikely it will. At the least I hope it sells well so it becomes an option some day for my next car.

I wonder if you could just make a mold and then find a plastic place to just make a clear plastic of the mold.
Of course, I have no idea how the lense is currently attached to the taillights. If it's glue that's probably easier then tabs, but then removing them without breaking anything might be hard
