135i ticking noise

Hello all!

My car is stored for the winter in my garage and i start it up every once in a while just to let everything flow while its not being driven all season. I noticed a noise i recall being present last summer, or for the matter of fact last time i started my car a couple of weeks ago. Car hasnt gone anywhere all winter! I have uploaded a short video to youtube where you can hear the noise for yourself and maybe identify what it is. I might just be paranoid and its nothing wrong at all; im just not sure what it could possibly be... any thoughts?

Mine does that too. It is a tick (not clacking, not valvetrain noise, not injectors) that sometimes kicks on for 5-15 seconds at a time, not RPM dependent, and will stop immediately if I rev above 1200 rpm or so. It seems to kick on more often in colder weather, but it is always there if I idle long enough. Typically it kicks on, stops for a bit, then kicks back on.

I always figured it is an emissions related solenoid due to the behavior above. Not being RPM dependent is a big indicator it really isn't a problem with the engine.

my car does the same thing. I dont think it likes to wake up when its sleeping lol

Yea I just got a 2010 135i and heard this sound the other day when I started it I was scared at first then found others saying the same it's normal

'09 50,000 kms been doing it since new - no concern.

Good to know, im glad im not the only person hearing this noise... must be normal engine operation...
