Get a battery tender and leave it plugged in.

+1 - I have left my cars for almost 4 months with the tender/trickle charger on, and it fired up right away on my return.

Be sure to get a "smart " battery tender though --either the BMW one the dealers sell or something like the CTEC 3300 I got at Canadian tire. I am told the BMW electronics need this----

I would... 1). over inflate the tires to the MAX tire pressure on the sidewall. 2). use a fuel stabilizer in the fuel and fill the tank up before parking it. 3). get a smart battery tender or disconnect the battery completely. 4). make sure the car is in a safe cool dry place.

Just disconnect the battery, don't want any critters getting in there and chewing wires and causing a short.
Mothballs around the car too to prevent above. 1600? I put more than that on within the first 4 days of ownership! |

You didn't mention (unless I missed something) how long the car would be stored. Battery Tender or CTEK is best way to go by far. Also location; may need to deter critters with peppermint spray (every 2 weeks) or moth balls. Perhaps steel wool up exhaust pipes. FULL gas tank with Sta-Bil if over 4-5 months.

Do not close the trunk
I store my 2011 128 convertible for the winter.
When the battery is removed or disconnected there is no way to unlock the trunk. I cover the trunk latch with several cloths to make sure that the trunk lid does not close completely. |

When I store my Z4M I throw a battery tender on it, cover it with a car cover and leave pressures at around 40 PSI.
No need to worry about flat spotting, modern tires just don't flat spot |
