2008 128i Fault code P143e
Hey guys,
Driving around the other day I had my Service Engine Soon light come on. I picked up a OBD scanner and it gave me the code P143e, I searched and this was the best I could come up with P143E : Direct Ozone Reduction Catalyst Temperature Sensor Gradient Too Low A user at bimmerforums suggested: erase the code and fill up full tank with high octane gas pour a can of injector cleaner and a can of gas booster and go on the highway for 1-1,5 hour at a speed 60-75 mph. and see if code come back or not I done it for few cars and it works Thoughts? any input? Just looking for some confirmation, the car seems to be running fine, nothing out of the ordinary besides the service light. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum...de-P143E-means Thanks

Just thought I would update this in case it helps anybody down the line, found this, makes sense and sounds like it's probably my issue: http://repairpal.com/obd-ii-code-p0143

Any updates on this jb? I am getting the same issue, SES light coming off and on again for the past three weeks. Seems to come on when the weather has been more humid than usual. Usually only stays on for about a day or two.
I've heard replacing the sensor at BMW can be pricey, I may attempt it myself but first I need to determine which one. Did a bit of searching - any DIY guides out there applicable for a 2010 128i? Not sure if there are differences in O2 sensing between the N52 and N55. Thanks! |

Just to follow up on this - I took the car to the dealer to get a read out from BMW. Turned out it was not an oxygen sensor but rather the EAC sensor within the radiator assembly. This replacement and service is free of charge under BMW's SULEV warranty (10 years/150,000 miles). Might be worth looking into if you are experiencing similar SES codes.
